Huey battle effects

Hello everyone! New to the site and the forum. I've been building model air craft of the ww2 and Vietnam eras since I was a little fella. Well I've recently taken on a uh-1h and am wanting to build a diorama when it's all said and done. I have 2 questions I have been unabe to find answers for. 1) I bought the timaya clear green for the upper window but I'm not sure the best way to apply it as I've never used clear paints bedore. Part 2 of that question is what window does it go on? In my research I've seen it tinted green on both sides. Ques 2: to add to the effect of it being in combat I've put a few bullet holes through the fuselage. I would like to do the same to the lower bubble window in the nose but have no idea how to create it. Any tips would be surely appreciated. I'm excited to pick the brains of you true experts and expand upon my level of building.

As far as your questions I would airbrush on the green but that is as far as I will go with an answer. Someone else will inevitably have a better/correct answer.

As far as #2, again sorry, I have don't have a clue.

To expand a bit to the answer above...I also airbrush it, and do so on the inside of the "glass"...before I even snip it off the sprue. And...do just the top two windows.

As for bullet holes in the glass...

A bit of variety of the effects of a bullet.

You could just make a basic hole, then scratch all around it...or cut out some chunks.

On on the topic of the windows I already screwed one up by getting over excited and decided to hand paint it. I made it worse by doing both sides. Any suggestions on undoing my mistake? I'll likely end up buying another kit for parts. ie- the window. Amateur I know... Lesson learned.

With regards to the bullets in the window I'm aiming for something like this:

As for the window, might try soaking it in some 409, but don't know if that would attack it or not. Try it on a piece of clear sprue first.

Another choice would be some auto rubbing/polishing compound and a soft rag to buff it off, but will take a little while depending on how heavy you went.

If the Huey is a Revell/Monogram boxing, get in touch with their customer service and see if they can send you a new one.

If you're getting spare parts anyway, try soaking the window in Windex.

As for your questions, you may want to post them on some of the more specific sub-forums such as helicopters, painting & airbrushing or even techniques on how to fix your glass. You will likely get more specific detail and assistance there.
