Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!
I've been building for 69 of my 75 years without a break but did engage in other hobbies at the same time. Always had a large workbench so I could work on a couple different hobby items at the same time. My workbench now is the smallest that I've ever had and is only for plastic models. I do have another bench in the basement if I want to work on a stick & tissue for the grandkids or one of my R/C boats. As said before by many members, R/C planes get very expensive especially when the pilot (me) makes a habit of landing the plane nose first. I got pretty good at it.

modelcrazy Welcome back to Plastiholics anonymous. Most of us here strayed from the force at some point of our lives only to return to our childhood love. It’s amazing that as we get older the more we long for the simple things of childhood. The difference is now it’s far more expensive and way more detailed. Enjoy the forum and don’t hesitate to ask questions, the difference between us and YouTube is we will answer questions and give encouragement.
Thanks, modelcrazy! Man, I can't believe how much more expensive kits are today but, wow, the detail is insane. The bulk of my budget goes to suplies and materials but with each kit i get more stuff.
As for feedback I learned never to read the comments or ask questions on YouTube.

I used to be super into building models as a kid. To the point of an obsession where my vision eclipsed my skills. I would buy the original MPC Star Wars kits and weather them. When I learned about ILM and kit bashing I amassed all the surplus parts/and kits I could and made my own original spacecraft. I then moved on to 1/35 scale military models and 1/48 scale aircraft. The ceiling of my room looked like the National Air and Space Museum. I would spend hours weathering vehicles and building dioramas for know reason other than chasing my dragon. I ended up chasing a different dragon later in life but "that's a story for another time."And then puberty hit. Hard.Models went away and I was all about touching boob. Well, dozens of boobs later I'm married and have a solid career reboot but I never returned to my favorite hobby. And then Tested came along.
Like others I went down the rabbit hole of watching the builds on YouTube and they excited me. Watching Will, Norm, Adam and Frank doing builds inspired me. I started to watch others on YouTube for techniques and info on advances in materials. Acrylic paint on plastic? I guess we skipped over jetpacks.When I saw the post on Tested.com on the Gundam build I saw Norm quickly show a little orange pod thing that caught my eye. For the record I am not into Gundam and anime bores me to tears. But something caught my eye with it and figured out which kit it was and ordered one. After several trips to the hobby store for miscellaneous tools I sat down and snipped off the first part.In no time I was back in the zone and a place I even listened to some the music that was on the radio when I young. (REO Speedwagon and Xanadu. Don't judge me.) All this is to say "Thank you" Tested for inspiring me to get back into something I never knew I missed.
I look forward to sharing more with the FSM community and seeing the work of so many talented people.
