Really wonderful to have you join us here Murphy. Heartening to hear that you are sharing the hobby with your son and having success at it. You and your son will both benefit immensely from the folks here. They are incredibley helpful and freindly not to mention extremely skilled. I build mainly WWII aircraft in 1/72 but, I dabble in most everything else. Enjoy yourself.

Welcome!

I do build just about anything, but certainly do build WW2 aircraft, and my auto building is pretty much concentrated on vintage racing cars.

Be sure and check out the Tools, Techniques, and Reference Materials area of the FSM forums.  There are quite a few new tools, techniques and materials since you last built, and there are specific forums in that section addressed to tools, techniques and building materials.

Welcome aboard Murphy! I've been on this forum now for about 4-1/2 years and find most of the folks here to be very helpful and cheerful. I build 1/48 WWII Aircraft and Custom Autos and right now am trying to get back to aircraft at some point. Just having too much fun with the autos for the time being.

Returning to the hobby
Posted by Murphy's Law on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 6:06 AM

Wanted to say hello to everyone on the forums from South Carolina. I've been away from the hobby for about 20 years. I build planes and cars in my teen years and got away from it when I started my family. Now I'm hoping to get my oldest son who is 9 interested in it. He's really taking to it so far. This has also really sparked my interest into it big time again. I've been buying tools and supplies and getting paints here and there trying to get a bit of an inventory up. I'm mostly into WW2 planes and older race car builds. I'm really wanting to learn weathering techniques because when I built before I didn't really get into any of that. Anyway I'm thankful for the forum and I'm already learning quite a lot from the post I've read so far :)
