Welcome to thte forums!  You've come to the right place for advice.  Super group of folks here more then willing to help out.  I hear ya about the AB!  I thought the same thing when I got mine!  Star Wars is a big genre here.  Keep an eye out for SW Group Builds and set yourself in one.  You'll have a blast and learn tons while doing it!  As for armor.....as Bish said, don't be afraid.  I was strictly and aircraft guy....then I build an armor kit...well, as they say, that wa that!  LOL!  Build some of everything!  No rules here for that.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

Rob Gronovius

Welcome, I just picked up my first Bandai Star Wars kit, the 1/48 AT-ST. Like Eric, I built every MPC Star Wars kit issued in the 70s and 80s except for the Darth Vader figure. I've built most of the Fine Molds 1/72 scale kits and the Revell ones too.

I've been an armor and sci-fi modeler my whole life, over 45 years of modeling. Bandai makes some awesome Gundam Hard Graph in 1/35 scale that are basically sci-fi armor kits.

Here's the MPC Return of the Jedi TIE Interceptor that I used along with the Fourth Axis TIE Crawler conversion to make a Star Wars tank.

That is very cool, Rob. I'm also keen to pick up the Bandai AT-ST, as well, and maybe play around with a little kit-bashing with it, once I get a bit more confidence!

Hello -

Welcome, I have no question you'll find answers to many questions you might have along the way. Since you are relatively new to airbrushing, may I suggest you visit "Don's Airbrush" website, for a good look at all of the information he has provided over time. Very detailed and valuable knowledge to be gained, I heartily recommend it to all.

Hope you enjoy the hobby, great way to kick back and unwind. Best of luck with your tank.

Hello Culhwch!

Welcome to the family.  I haven't built a Star Wars model since the movies first came out in the '70s.  My philosophy back then was "Paint?  We don't need no steenkeeng paint!"  Now that the new movies are coming out, I'm really tempted to try my hand at those Star Wars kits to see if I can do a better job.

It's always fun to welcome new members.  Input is always welcome no matter if you've been modeling for five minutes of five decades.  You'll find that no matter how long you've been at the hobby, you're ALWAYS learning new things.  I've been at it for about 39 years and I'm still trying out new things that I learn here on this forum.

This forum has the friendliest group of people I've ever (virtually) met.  Remember, the only stupid question is an unasked one.  So ask away!  And definitely post some pics when you can.

Best wishes,

Eric

Welcome aboard. I do it all, any scale. Ships are my fav though.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome to the Forums!  Glad to have you aboard!

You've come to the right place. The guys and gals here are very knowledgeable and are ready to help you with any problems/questions that you may have.

I have been building whatever strikes my fancy (and my wallet says OK) for 70 of my 76 years. I'm still learning something new almost every day.

So, sit back and relax, have a few sips of your favorite brew CoffeeBeerDrinksToast, and enjoy the hobby. Don't forget to post pics of your builds.

Hi all! I've been lurking for awhile but I just officially joined and thought I'd drop in and introduce myself.

I'm from Brisbane, Australia, and I'm pretty new to modelling, probably only going on about a year now. I've only just recently upgraded to an airbrush, which has been a revelation, but I'm still trawling for hints and tips wherever I can.

I'm interested in a whole range of subjects - Bandai's Star Wars models got me in, but I've made a couple of planes and am eyeing up a tank as my next project, although it's somewhat daunting - we'll see how that goes, anyway!
