Back after a couple of decades
Posted by bstarr3 on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 4:56 PM

I was really into models as a kid. As I got older it just sort of have way to other interests. Now that I'm suitably middle aged, I've gotten back to it, both for the love of the artistic/technical aspects of it, as well as the interest in history. For my first model back I've chosen Italeiri's 1/72 C47, which is what my late grandfather flew in the war. I'm doing it just oob. I have one existing photo of his actual plane, and when I feel like my skills are enough to do it justice I will try to reproduce his C47. Hoping to work my technique back to snuff with this one followed by a 1/48 fighter. Thinking of Tamiya's F4U-1D, or maybe a Hellcat. Anyway, happy to find this online resource for help and inspiration!

Welcome back, bstarr3!  I remember building that 1/72 C-47 quite a while back.  I remember it being a pretty good build.  I hope it's proving to be the same for you and that it's an enjoyable build.  Make sure you post pictures when you can!

Best wishes,

Eric
