HawkThis time around I'm in a better place, both mentally and financially, both which were in short supply at age 8 !!!
I think that's true for all of us... at least I hope so! hahahaha....
Welcome aboard. I too have returned to the hobby after many years. It seems to be a common thread here. So we will all learn and help each other get better. That's awesome.
Cheers, Mark

Welcome Chris
Like you I went on a hiatus but left later (1999) and returned sooner (2014). In the 4 years I have been a member of this forum (has it really been that long?) I have learned more than in the previous 34 years. The techniques and and instruction the forum members have given me have been key in that improvement to the point where I see a spectacular build on the internet and I think "I know how they did that".
The folks on here are very good at not criticizing a build, but rather gently guiding you to a better way while encouraging your improvement. Very few other forms can boast this claim.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Have fun.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome to the Forums!
Hi Chris! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard!
You have certainly come to the right place. Many of the members got here through the same stages that you did. You are right about the changes in the hobby but most of them are not as difficult as they seem and the members here are ready to help you with any questions/problems that you might have. There are no dumb questions except the ones you don't ask. I've learned a lot since joining and continue to learn something new almost every day.
I've been building for 70 of my 76 years. I build anything that strikes my fancy as long as my wallet says OK. Also done all the other hobbies along the way like R/C planes and boats, trains, stick & tissue planes, and hunting.
Sit back, relax, have a sip or two of your favorite drink whether it be , , , or my favorite and build away.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Started building plastic models at about 8, went strong until age 19 and was getting purdy good, the last couple of years gravitated toward WWll aircraft. Then life happened !!! Now about 38 years later I am returning to that which I really enjoyed so much. This time around I'm in a better place, both mentally and financially, both which were in short supply at age 8 !!!
I am, however quite taken aback by all the changes in the hobby since 1979, more glues than I remember and new and better ways of doing everything. It will be quite a learning process over the next year or so while getting back in the saddle!!! A trip I am truly looking forward to.
I live in a small town in Michigan, Beaverton, kinda on the east side of the state.
Let the learning begin.......
