the Baron

Welcome to the forum, Chris!  It's a great hobby, and if nothing else, it keeps us out of trouble Big Smile

In your line of work, you've probably got some great opportunities to see some heavily used vehicles and equipment, and see how they weather.

Regarding having to travel for two thirds of the month, you might find that you can put together a little traveling bench and tool kit.  There are other guys who do, many of them servicemen who get a little time here or there, and don't have the room to keep a large bench.

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,

Brad

Brad -

Thank you for the welcome....and that's a great idea. I could take along a small basic kit and tools. I am going to give it a try, thank you

Welcome!  I have been here a little less than a year, and the forum is fantastic.  Everyone is helpful and just as important, friendly.  This is the best online experience I have ever had.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Check the forum as often as possible.  You never know when you get a very useful nugget of information.  I learned a ton about building just by reading the forum.

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Thats always the best way to go. MY modelling has imprived more in the last 9 years than it did in the previous 30 thanks to people on here and posting process pics both in GB's and their own threads is the best way.

Welcome to the Forums Chris! Glad to have you aboard!

You've really come to the right place. The members here are very knowledgeable and ready to help out with any problem/question that you might have. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The only dumb question is the one that you don't ask. I've been building for 70 of my 76 years and have learned so much from the members here. I'm still learning.

Enjoy.

Got Plastic?

I am looking at a German Stuka for my first build.

Not a problem at all bud. You need to be hitting good ol Bish up. He's an expert when it comes to the Stuka's. Wink

Well, thans for the compliment. Is it cheque or cash Wink

I am not sure about expert, but i do have a thing for Stuka's. But which kit to get will depend on scale and if there is a certain version you wnat to build. I am a 72nd builder mainly though i have looked at the larger scales.

Hello Bish,

Thank you for welcoming me. I am interested in all WWII aircraft and armor but will not limit myself to that. I'll be honest, right now I want to get a few builds under my belt so I can gain the knowledge and skills to be historically accurate and then dive into WWII dioramas. I have seen some beautiful works during show visits and in the FSM forums. I have a obsession with half-tracks from the '42 - '45 time period. I plan on building as many as possible. LOL

I am also fond of US, British and German aircraft. Thanks again for the welcome!

P.S. - Love the Humor Banner

Chris

Welcome aboard, sounds like you have a good plan for getting started. Are there any certain scales or subject you are planning on build.

Hello and I'm 100% New
Posted by Got Plastic? on Sunday, August 6, 2017 8:35 AM

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris and I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my wife of 29 years. I am completely new to modelling. I have had the plastic bug for years attending shows across the country but never seemed to have the time to get started. Will that time has arrived. I have never built a model before but enjoy building and with what I have seen over the past few years I know I'll be a lifer.

I plan on starting out with simple builds to obtain the skills, knowledge and techniques to advance my builds. I work for a large railroad contractor as a heavy equipment operator and travel throughout the US and Canada. The only draw back to getting into this is I have to travel 21 to 25 days away from home. The plus is I get 10 days off in a row when I complete my 21 to 25 days. I especially look forward to getting to know all of you. I have met a lot of great people from attending shows and my local hobby shop.

I have spent the past few days reviewing the forums and have seen some great looking builds and extremely outgoing members. I look forward to being apart of that.

Regards,

Chris
