Greetings from an Okie
Posted by LAVscout on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 4:39 PM

So Im from Oklahoma and have been a fan of modeling since I was a kid. I never could build in a manner worthy of this website, let alone paint a model very well but I still enjoyed it.

I stopped model building when I enlisted in the Marines in 03 and now, a decade after I left the service, I find myself yearning to build a model of some of the LAV25s that I called home. I also find that a major probem I have to get over is the level of perfection Ill want to put in to a build simply because I worked in and on them for several years and still know the platform pretty well.

My most recent attempt to get reaquainted with model building was a Revell level 1 Blue Angel F18. It reminded me of how generic some kits can be and why many modelers choose to make some of their own parts.

Im sure Ill dive back here for tip and advise but I figured Id drop a line and make myself known.

Hello, and welcome.

Lots of helpful examples of building and painting to be seen here, very expert advice and answers to questions as well.

The hobby is for your enjoyment, the level of details and finish only needs to please you. And remember, each build you turn out will be better than the one before, you'll be happily surprised with your abilities as you continue building.

I lived in Broken Bow many years ago, anywhere near you? Hope we'll see some of your builds in time.

Welcome aboard, and thank you for your service.

Always keep in mind: Build it for yourself, and not others. ;)

Welcome back to the Forums! Glad to have you back with us. Thank you for your service.

Drop in any time and make yourself at home. As was said above, that's what we're here for, to help one another. With your background, there are guys on the Armour section that will be asking for help from you.

Enjoy!
