I have returned to modeling after taking a 10 year hiatus to raise my girls.
I feel overwhelmed with the availiabilty of information via forums, youtube and other sources. It's like trying to drink from a fire hose. However, I am having fun relearning and learning too many new things.
Trying to wrap up Hobby Craft's P40F Desert Hawk and Hasegawa's A63M Zero and wanted to try a gloss coat and some weathering, which I have never done so in the past. Lots of suggestions but I can never decipher what the basecoat chemistry is when reading all the suggestions or watching youtube.
My preferences is to stick with spraying enamel basecoats. So, here are my next steps and wanted to get some feedback:
- Apply decals
- Spray with an acrylic gloss clear coat mixed 50/50 Mr. Color Levelling Thinner
- Apply wash - thinking of buying Tamiya Enamel panel wash or Flory Model Wash
- Remove excess Wash after drying (enamel=mineral sps; Flory=water)
- Apply another clear coat....should this be gloss, semi-gloss, satin or flat? Enamel or Acrylic based?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bill
