Just registered for this site and hope I can contribute to these forums. I know from years of experience that just one small model building/finishing "trick" can save somebody tons of money or time. I've been building models all my life (I'm in my 60's). I've always liked buying the cheaper models and doing heavy detailing on them. Last 10 years, a lot of scratchbuilding, usually ships from plans. I'm into weathering my wartime models because I like them to look as they did during wartime.

Hi Dave 99;

 Welcome to the forums ! You sound like me . Buy the cheaper kits and go from there (  "Making a Silk Purse out of a Sows Ear ? ") That's how I got started . B.B.damaged models from wealthier kids , found in the bottom of a fountain !

 I soon had the whole Pacific Fifth Fleet ! . Glad to have you here ! Tanker Builder
