Hello
Posted by ogreb on Thursday, August 16, 2018 9:07 PM

I'm mid 50 and live in Colorado.

Just recently got back into modeling, seems like I picked the right time.

Way different now. It may sound weird but one of the reasons I got back into it was due to a 1/ 35 scale leaf punch and sea foam.

No more Dr Suess looking trees.

That always nagged me and brought me out of modeling was the trees. Spend all that time building a killer model only to be reduced to foam or moss as foilage. ( or dried leaves or herbs ) Ugghh

Now I spend nights watching Tv punching out scale leaves from actual leaves. Trees are looking like trees now.

Anyway I build 1/ 35 scale WW2 ( and some WWI + sub ) models and figures in dioramas settings.

My dioramas are story boards in the midst of the war. They all tell a story . Good , bad or indifferent.

I wish I could figure out how to upload pictures. It says it needs a source.

My snapshots range anywhere from 3 dead frozen soldiers sitting around a campfire that had gone out long ago to the crew of a 2cm Flakweirling sitting around drinking while trading with a couple of paratroopers with a loot laden cow.

My current project is a Stewart that unexpectedly ran into a Tiger sitting inside an old cafe. But all may not be lost as some of the Tiger crew is caught unaware and outside the tank.

My next one is a Elefant with the crew playing soccer while repairs are being done by the crew of a Steyr .

Yeah I just can't build the model...it needs a story.

A tank on the shelf looks good, a tank that just turned a human into a tube of toothpaste is something else.

Need to figure out how to upload pics.

Hi! I’m new here as well, just getting back into it. Can’t help with the picture issue but I look forward to seeing them when you do. I agree that a lot has changed in the last 25 years, some pretty neat stuff out there.

Welcome aboard. As with many forums, you will need a photo hosting site to load your pics onto and then you can add them here.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

Been building models for 71 of my 77 years. Favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships. But, I will build anything and everything that strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK.

You've come to the right place. Helpful members that are ready to help with any question/problem that you might have.

Try this again.

Most forums I belong to allow you to upload pictures automatically...no 3rd party.

Yeah !! Finally..sorry they are links but I'm still figuring this out.

Anyway...still a ton left to do on this model. Still need to do figures ( redo ones present ) Add more debris ( dishes, rugs, etc ) Frame it...really makes a difference with a frame.

 Here you go.

To post it here you can use the "direct link"  on Imgur, then use the "insert/edit image" ( next to the Insert / edit link button ) along the bottom row of option's on the page when you post stuff here.

Now, as for your diorama..... AWESOME ! ! !

It look's so "Busy", you find something at every vantage point.  I like it !

Thanks

It will look  alot different once I do the figures.

There will be 3 GIS ( 2 running and 1 Firing ) next to the Stewart and 5 german tankers and 2 paratroopers.

3 of the tankers will be caught outside with only the commander and driver in the tank.

The german tanker running at full tilt will be in the middle of dropping jerry cans as he runs.

But it should all flow together and give it more tension.

Just waiting on my order.

Still need to mud and weather the Stewart...smush the Tiger down a lottle more. Things like that.

Here is one from the Tigers side.

So much to do.

There will be a paratrooper upstairs by the bed that is just hanging off. He will be drunk and that is why the Americans rolled up on them. The other paratrooper will be going through Nazi loot crates that were abandoned. The crates will be near the piano.

The tankers just want fuel.

Be glad to get to the final flattening and dusting...that semi gloss is killing me.

The tiger is called the Grau Hexen..I name all my Tigers with some variation of Hexen in tribute to old world family.

A very Big Welcome and an even bigger Thank you for posting.  That is a dynamite dio.

Keep at it Please!.  Your work is exemplary. Thank you again for joining.

P.S.  I love your plate full of parts in your earlier Pic!  I use a similar plate along with a high-side bowl for PE that tries to escape.

Thanks everyone.

Got the warm fuzzies now. Appreciate that.

Was kind of hesitant to show anything, it's been almost 20 years since I picked up a bottle of glue or an airbrush.

Until 2 months ago that is.  I used to do it big time. Had a Battle of Kursk 1/ 35 scale diorama 8 foot by 8 foot. ( Wife took a baseball bat to it during the divorce...ouch ! )

But since then nothing. ( kids, job, mortgage etc )

But out of the blue a couple of months ago I found 1/ 35 scale leaf punches just by accident while browsing and memories came crashing back ...next thing I know I'm building a Tiger at 2 am, ordering hundreds of dollars worth of modeling stuff.

Not to mention a new compressor etc...and of course leaf punches of every description.

Had to start from scratch.  Didn't even have an Exacto.

It's great to building again.
