Howdy !

JurS
I am interested in various subjects, aircraft, model figures and ships.

I have the same problem,... I see a kit of ANYTHING, and I build it.

JurS
Apart from that I am working on a model railway layout, not meant to be a model of any particular prototype but more as a way to see my collection of model locomotives in action.

OMG , You too ?    I'm just going to come out and say it..... sometime's  ...late at night ...( when no one is looking ) I use to just let my train's run around in circle's for hour's .   Let Lightning strick me down for not being "Prototypical" !

Welcome to FSM.

JurS
One thing I do notice is that everything looks a lot smaller than it used to!

That has an all-too-familiar ring to it. If aging vision is a challenge [show of hands....] something like an Optivisor---or a cheap knock-off, like I use---can make a world of difference.

Thanks for the welcome all! I haven't got much to show just yet, I have started a small ship model as a practice run, and am painting a few model soldiers. One thing I do notice is that everything looks a lot smaller than it used to!

Welcome to the forums!  I look forward to seeing your build, including your model railroad.  Some may not think of it, but there is a lot of crossover between model railroading and scale modeling.  When I was a teenager, I had an oval layout on a 4'x8' plywood base, with an airstrip in the middle for my 1/72 airplanes.

Best regards,

Brad

Welcome to the squirrel cage!Big Smile

Dive in, ask questions, and don't hesitate to show your work. We're all tinged by the same relatively harmless mania here, so you should find lots of kindred souls. Above all enjoy your time here.

And congratulations on your retirement!

Welcome, enjoy yourself. The thing about the forums is the more often you participate, the more you'll get out of it. i.e., post a question and vanish for days or weeks before checking back and interacting with those who tried to answer you and you'll end up being passed over. Ask a question, respond to those trying to help and interact with others and you'll almost always get help.

Hello modelers!
Posted by JurS on Monday, August 27, 2018 10:19 AM

Hello all, I have just joined the site after having lurked for a while, admiring the excellent work done by the members. Having been an avid Airfix kit builder in my youth, I have returned to the hobby now that I am retired and have more time. I am rather shocked by the amazing progress in standards on display, and a bit daunted to be honest. Still, willing to give it a try again.

I am interested in various subjects, aircraft, model figures and ships. Apart from that I am working on a model railway layout, not meant to be a model of any particular prototype but more as a way to see my collection of model locomotives in action.

Happy modelling!
