Back After a Long Hiatus
Posted by redraider56 on Sunday, December 30, 2018 8:43 AM

I used to frequent this forum 7-8 years ago and it’s been 4 or so since I’ve posted to any topic so I figured I should reintroduce myself.

I was in college at the time and my modeling time was limited so I never really finished any projects and would always lose interest quick.  Fast forward almost 6 years now since I’ve graduated and I’ve started to get that modeling bug again.  Im in a career that I enjoy and do photography as a hobby/side business.  Now that I finished my big project of getting my photography website up and running I’ve decided to turn back to modelinG to help pass these wonderful Wisconsin winters and hope to get going here in the near future.

My modeling interest has always been 1/48 scale US bombers.  Now that I’m older my “want to build” list has gone down quite a bit and I don’t have plans to buy anymore kits right now until I build the ones I have which I’m using as a justification to splurge on aftermarket bits for a rather ambitious B-17 project that I’m looking to finally build.   Kits in my stash right now are Monogram’s B-17G and B-26, a   Revell PV-1, ProModeler Helldiver, AM B-25C/D and a Revell Do-217.

Looking forward to getting back in the saddle!

-Matt

I remember being in a few group builds with you, Matt.  Good to have you back and active--in the Forum and with the plastic.

Welcome back Matt.  Is that a Muskie in your pic?
Looks a bit too green to be a pike, but the picture's really small so I'm not sure.
Either way, nice fish!

Though I live in Colorado now, I spent my first 40 years next door in Minnesota so if you ever want to talk fishin'...  Smile

Cheers,
Mark

You are correct!  It was only 30 inches but is one of only two muskies I've ever caught and it was a nice surprise since I was casting for smallies at the time.

Ha, that's always a nice surprise.  Once I was fishing for bluegills with an ultralight slip-bobber rig.  Hooked a fat one and proceeded to reel it in.  Large muskie suddenly grabbed the bluegill, jumps out of the water, throws my flu-flu jig in one direction and the fish in another, and disappeared in a big splash.   lol.
