Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome to the forum, I've recently moved on from oob; built to a satisfactory finish to please my eye now adding a little more detail using tips picked up here. My two still at home are 16 and 13 but I manage to get a couple of hours here and there all the same.

Welcome to the Forums Bodie! Glad to have you with us.

You have come to the right place. A lot of the members got here by the same route and are ready and willing to help you out with any questions or problems.

I've been building models since the age of 6 and I'm now 78. I build whatever strikes my fancy and my wallet says OK.Wink My favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships. If I run out of room for them, and it happens often, I give them to local kids to enjoy or donate them to organizations that can use them for displays. I got lucky when visiting a WWII museum in my area and was asked to refurbish some of the models there that were needing cleaning and repair. After doing a few, I asked if they would like to have a few of mine so I could make room for new additions. I now have several of mine on the shelves there along with the refurbished ones. VFW posts and the like are also good places to look for homes for your builds.

Look forward to seeing your builds.

Hi all,

Bodie from TX here, I've been building model airplanes every since I was a kid but have never been real serious about creating museum quality pieces, lol.  I grew up an Air Force brat hopping from base to base across the world so I've always had a fascination for military aircraft especially after living on Davis Monthon AFB for 4 years in my youth.  My "fort" was a KC-135 located in the infamous "plane graveyard" that we would sneak into through a tunnel we dug under the fence into the highly restricted area.  So more times than not I was given a ride home by the MP's after playing hard enough to get ourselves caught, lol.  Anyways, I really started building models after the birth of my 2nd son and would hang them from his ceiling in his bedroom for him to marvel at while he was nodding off for his afternoon nap.  One plane turned into 6, then a bakers dozen, and now I'm surpassing 30 different aircraf, 95% are 1:48 scale with a couple 1:72 scale for good measure.....it's to the point that I'm having a hard time creating airspace for any new additions.  Like I said they are no where near the level of some of you Master Modelers, but my son has always been pleased with them and that's just fine with me.  My kids have all grown up I'm now facing imminent empty house syndrome so who knows.....I might just give attention to detail a shot before too long!!!

***Will posts some pics of his room as soon as I figure out how......I'm on an iPad Pro???
