As others have said, these forums are a good place to ask questions or talk about models, or just shoot the breeze.
Thanks, all. So..let's see - April to November. That's only a couple of weeks, right? That must be why I haven't had much time at the bench yet...
More 'too much' has happened, including quitting a major client and looking for (and getting!) new clients lined up, two bouts of the Dread Virus Roberts in less than 2 months, a couple of unexpected trips to the ER (all is better now) and who knows how many honeydo projects. The next one of those is actually a full clean/reorg of the basement, which happens to include my home office and my hobby area, so at least I sorta get to work with my models... Also, I've discovered that my local IPMS squadron is doing a show this weekend, so I'm committed to going and meeting folks and maybe making some local friends in this hobby.
I was gifted an H&S Infinity for my birthday this year (HUGE step up from my old Badgers, methinks, and looking forward to trying to needle stop) and I've yet to put anything through it (not even water) but have decided that will be my first order of back-to-itiveness, so I'm making plans. They say that people who make plans and set targets are more likely to achieve them, so I'm going to start with that route.
- Clear enough off the current benchtop to disassemble/investigate/reassemble/familiarize myself with the Infinity. Try shooting food coloring or ink through it to get some time with it where I don't have to worry as much about the acrylic paint drying in it - that'll come next.
- My father's birthday is in February and I've decided to get one of those Revell Big Boys to do for him. He's always been a train fan, but never any interest in model trains sets - always videos, magazines, and in-person trips. I'm hoping to make him something to put on his desk under the monitor, a display piece. I figure it's mostly black with some trim colors and then weathering, so perhaps it'll be fairly straightforward. (Ha!)
Anyway, back to the basement and cleaning and organizing. First is enough of a clearing to try to accomplish #1 in the next 2 weeks. After that, it's keep clearing and cleaning, which mostly means discarding a lot of stuff and organizing what's left. On the plus side, this means I can figure out additional storage for the stash and clear up the benchtop to have more than 1 sq.ft. to work in! (And yes, work will commence prior to completing any cleanup!) On the plus PLUS side, I've decided to liquidate a lot of my woodworking tools, so I may have a nice influx of funds for more models....
