Oops, Hello everyone!
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, April 17, 2004 7:28 PM
Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but I just found (was shown, actually Wink [;)])the 'introduce yourself' folderSmile [:)]

My name is Pete McFadyen and I have owned a hobby shop (SpareTime Hobbies) in Winnipeg for the last 8 years, the last 2 of which have been strictly on-line. My personal interests in plastic modeling are 1/48 aircraft, 1/12 F1, 1/24 trucks and of course drawing and printing custom decals.

One of the reasons I began building models in my adult life was because I had just joined the Canadian military and was completely impressed by the equipment I saw (my very first aircraft flight EVER was in a Herc on my way to basic training!). The other was that I was trying to quit smoking, so I thought what better to occupy my hands? It worked, by the way, after 17 years of trying!

I have not been very prolific as far as completing models go (though I start many!) and I don't have many completed kits to show for the last 22+ years, mainly due to the 15 years in the CF and 11+ moves I've encountered since starting to build (got a lot of spares!). I do have a large & growing personal collection of models that I vow to build, (apart from the inventory at SpareTime Hobbies) all contingent, of course , on completing construction of my 'hobby room'. LOL!

Well, enough of my 'excuse-fest'! Let me finish by saying that if there is anything you think I can help with, please let me know, as I'm sure I will learn an even greater amount from all the knowledgeable forum members here.

Thanks for listening,

Thanks for the warm welcome you have extended. I'm sure I'll spend way too much time in here!

To wrbridge, yes, I am an F1 fan as well. I started watching in the mid 70's, when I could. I'm not too happy about the state of F1 right now with Ferrari's dominance, but I still get up at 6 AM every other Sunday...

Wow, you must have seen some amazing races over the past 30 years then. I only started watching during the 1994 season and I've been hooked ever since, I even got my wife hooked! Laugh [(-D] I hear what you're saying about the state of the series right now, I'm a big Ferrari fan but I'd still like to see them have more competition when they win every race Wink [;)] Hopefully things will even out over the summer in Europe like they did last year. Anyways, gald to have you aboard, and I'd love to see some of your F1 models sometime Smile [:)]

Hi Warren,

I have seen some great races, but up until the early 90's, TV coverage was pretty spotty, especially in some of the places I've lived! Being in the military didn't help either, on call 24/7. As far as the models go, well, I'd lilke to see some of them completed too! LOL
