Hail, from Finland

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste...

No, not quite. I'm just your everyday run-of-the-mill wargamer who's gotten a bit tired of Games Workshop models and is looking for something a bit more challenging and amusing to build.

I'm mainly interested in tanks, especially the more eccentric designs, such as the KV-2, the A7V and the Lebedenko. After a loooong hiatus from scale models (did my last one as a wee lad, about 10 years ago), what I'm reading on the Internet seems mighty daunting, but I'm prepared to make the plunge, although the apparently-necessary 200+ € purchase of an airbrush is not exactly a thrilling concept.

Incidentally, is there like a "scale modelling for dummies" kind of tutorial out there somewhere, about just generally getting started with the whole building and painting thing?

Uh, I think I'll be leaving the same way I came in.

My enthusiasm has been rather crushed by the astounding standard of quality modellers all over the world are capable of. there's no way for me to match it or even make something I could honesty consider satisfactory. All in all, I know I could finish a model to some extent, but I also know I'd never be able to be happy with it, especially the painting aspect, which would require so much monetary sacrifices for equipment that I could never justify.

In case it's not apparent, I'm mildly bipolar, and when I get excited about something, I really get into it, for a brief period of time. It always wears out. I've never stuck with any one hobby continuously for over three months, and that's just not enough time.

Then comes the check, the change, the fall.
Pain rises up, old pleasures pall,
There is one remedy for all.
