The sad thing about that P39 at the South Pacific Aero Club is that you used to be able to poke and prod it as it was on the tarmac next to all the general aviation stuff. Then they slapped a coat of paint over the whole thing ( destroying any useful color references ) and stuck it up a pole out of arms length.

Welcome, Knave. Cant help you much on the on-line shopping query but I guess thats the way to go if there isnt a hobby shop around. At least you have access to good conversation and tips here. Hope you enjoy the forums.

I hope that the P39 wasn't the main course.

I thought the idea of an introduction forum was a great idea so I'll make use of it.
Im a pilot for an airline in Papua New Guinea who has a long standing interest in aviation history in the region, mainly bush flying and world war two subjects. The upside of being an aviation freak in New Guinea is the rich aviation environment this country has, the downside is that the nearest hobby store is in Australia.
Im sure Im not the only guy who lives in an region remote from modelling supplies yet has access to the internet. I would be interested to hear from other modellers in remote regions about what they think of online shopping for kits and supplies. Have your experiences been good or bad?
If anyone has any queries about aircraft or aviation history in the New Guinea region, Id be happy to help. This is a country where my first company house had a P39 prop and spinner in the backyard for drying clothes on and the local aero club has a P39 carcass mounted on a pole in the BBQ area.
