I used to be a drummer.  Had the set up and everything and would annoy the hell out of my parents.  But then after I got to playing sports I figured that I would rather play sports than play the drums.

I used to play the electric bass and my ex-wife got pregnant and I had to get a real job to take care of my family. After she left me I got back into building models - and my new wife encourages me in the hobby.

Cheers,

Eric

I'm a wanna be rock star, picked up the guitar again about a year and a half ago.

I have a Godin Freeway Classic electric guitar (light burst... gorgeous) Cool [8D], Fender 212R Amp that I could really******off the neighbors with if I wanted to Evil [}:)], and a GNX4 Guitar Workstation that can make any effect you want, including amp and cabinet modeling so there are virtually an infinate amount of combinations to tweak your sound, it's almost overwhelming all the stuff it can do.  Shock [:O]

Going to put together a band just for fun to play at parties and the like.

p.s. almost forgot, I played classical piano for many years as a youngster.

I played drums in various original bands for about 10 years before I got a "real job".

One band I was in had a clip on TV. That was my 15 minutes....

I write music on my PC now, but it's more of a hobby now.

I play piano/keyboard, guitar and bass guitar.  Used to be a recording engineer, travelled the world and then one day I woke up and realized that I had to do something more meaningful with my life.  Now I just play instruments for fun (or drive my wife nuts with the noise) or to kill some time here and there.

Aussie1, I used to do lots of MIDI stuff back in the days by using cakewalk, audio logic and notator.

Does the 5-string banjo count? If so, I'm in! Big Smile [:D] Of course, this is also making me wish I never sold my black Ibanez Les Paul.

I'm a drummer, with a Roland V-stage TD-8 brain mesh heads and the monitor system made for it (forgot the name).  I'm teaching (trying) myself the acoustic guitar with a Fender my neighbor has let me borrow, and one day I will learn the piano.

I'm a music teacher.  I taught 2 years of high school, band and chorus, a year of middle school band, and finally decided it was the little ones (K-6) who made me happy!   I play guitar mostly, my baby is my Gretsch 6120 and my Fender Twin Reverb, talk about awesome tone!  I also have a Martin 0016 and a Gibson Les Paul, and I play alto and bari saxophone.  Lots of singing and piano, but mostly as a job necessity...

Les Paul is my favorite, but don't have one yet.  Guild acoustic, Guild Bass, Fender telecaster and Kramer strikers are my guitars.  One day, I shall buy myself a Les Paul!

The Les Paul is a great guitar, very versatile, but don't sell the telecaster short...  Totally opposite tone from the Les Paul.  The Paul's fat, full and warm, while, as you know, the tele has a trebly, thin, cutting tone.  Depends on what you prefer.  I'd love to add one to my arsenal.  Fender amps and guitars are just great, I also have a fretless jazz bass and it's a fine instrument.  I've played a few Guilds, and they were great, but the Gretsch was more what I was looking for.  What kind of amp do you play through?  A quality amp will make almost any guitar sound good, but a low-end amp will make the best guitar sound like a toy!

I intend to keep my telecaster (it is made in USA!!!!!!! most new ones are like Made in Mexico) and probably get myself a Les Paul Classic.  As for amp goes, I have Tubeworks Mosvalve with Marshall speakers.  I probably get a Marshall head sometime in a future (need permission from the wife Sad [:(])  You are absolutely right about how low end amp will make the best guitar sound like a toy.  Just like some people put lowest priced gasoline for their performance vehicles.... As for my bass amp goes, I am using Peavy combo amp, which is nothing spectacular, but works for the time being.  Would love to have GK RB400 with Harke speakers.  But this all depends on whether my wife approves it or not.

I played in a rock band doing cover songs in 1980-82.
I had a Fender Strat then sold it and bought a Gibson SG.
Now I just have my Ibanez Artist 5-string banjo and my Takamine 12- string acoustic.
Would love to buy another old Strat one day and try and copy my favorite guitarist of all time...Stevie Ray Vaughan!

I have a Gretsch Electro-Acoustic, 2 Yamaha Acoustic and a Epiphone Dot (Gibson ES355 clone), and a wish for a Gretsch Nashville ( lerxst1031's 6120, there is one with a Bigsby at my LMS which has my fingerprints all over it).

Never played in a band as I prefer to butcher songs all by myself.

I share MikeV's SRV appreciation!

So long folks!

I first started out on guitar, moved to alto saxophone, baritone saxophone and then drums.  Played drums for the USAF during my enlistment and had a blast doing it.  I'm back to playing guitar again now after 25 years away from it.  Needless to say it's a whole new learning experience.
