Greetings fellow modelers
Posted by Hondo on Monday, December 10, 2007 12:44 PM

My name is Kevin Krueger and I'm posting here for the first time.  I've been away from the hobby for about 3 years now due to moving twice across the country (midwest to east to west).Cowboy [C):-)]  Now that I'm getting myself settled...AGAIN, I'll be rejoining the ranks of the molded plastic challenged individuals who frequent sites such as this.  Banged Head [banghead]

My modeling interests are:

                                  anything that interests me!

I have done reviews for modelingmadness.com so I'm sure some of you may be familiar with me and/or my work.  Anyway, "hello" to all my fellow modelers.

I have just one question for anyone who might know.  A few years ago, there was on article in FSM  where an individual converted a Hasegawa 1/32 P-51D into a P-51B.  I was thinking it was Paul Boyer but I could be wrong.  I tried the archives on this site but found no results.  Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.  Can anyone help?

Merry Christmas everyone,

Kevin

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Kevin!  As for the article, I think I may have it at home.  IIRC, it's in one of the FSM WWII special editions.  I have them somewhere, I'll take a looksie tonight when I get home.

Was it the one painted in the markings of Don Gentile?

Frank,

Come to think of it, you may be correct.  Thanks for checking!

Frank,

Yes it was.  I believe the issue had an article by my friend Rusty White and his DKM Bismarck ship model.  If that is so, then it is one of the WWII specials.

Kevin-

YES, that's the one!  I remember that Bismarck model ploughing through the North Atlantic.  In fact, that model was the reason I saved the issue.  When I dig it out, I'll scan it for you.  Just pop me a PM with your email addy and I'll send it to ya.

OK, I found the article you are looking for!  It's in the 1995 FSM "Modeling the Second World War: A 50th Anniversary Tribute."  The plane is actually James Goodson's P-51B converted from the 1/32 HAsegawa P-51D.  If you send me a private message with your email address, I'll send the scanned pages to you. Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank,

E-mail received...thanks a whole bunch.  The article will help even though I'm going to tackle the Revell kit.  I figure that if I can make a decent 1/32 scale BF109F from the old 1967 Revell kit (including lengthening the fuselage), the Revell P-51B can't be any more difficult.  At least it starts out looking like a P-51B.

Merry Christmas,

Kevin
