New to the forums...

I am honestly not sure why I have never been here previously. I guess I never figured that FSM would have an online forum for hobbyists.

Anyways, I have been building models of all sorts since my father bought me my first Matchbox biplane for Christmas while we were living in Germany. Since then I have built different era's as well as scales and typrs of models. Though I have drifted towards Modern Armor as well as military aviation. Not just any ol airplanes, I like the heavies. I served as a Crew Chief on C5's out of Travis for 7 years and grew an affection for the trash haulers.

I have picked up kits of various different types of cargo aircraft over the years as I saw them from Testors 48th scale C130's to revells 144th scale C5's and everything in between. However as most of my hobbies go they come and go in intensity over the years. I have been out of the building phase for a while now and am relearning some of my old techniques. As well as learning some new ones, airbrushing being one of them, as well as resin casting for duplicate parts.

I am now diggin back through my "boxes" of models and trying to decide which to jump into first. The Revell KC10 and C5 are looking rather tempting at the moment for a bit of an air refueling diorams.

Anyways, I hope to learn as well as contribute to the forums, for now I will simply be lurking and cathing up on reading.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums.

My father retired from the Air Force some years back.  One of the place we lived was Germany and i remember build a lot of the Matchbox kits.  Do you know if they are still around?

Look forward to seeing your work.

Just did a web search and Matchbox kits are still around.  I wonder what they are like these days.

I have built only a few matchbox kits since then. However I do remember browsing through the kits while I was over there as an airmen later in life. The kits from what I recall are on par with Revell of Germany and at the time offered kits that were not available from other makers. They are where I got my first HEMMT from.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the madness, and my vote goes for a C5 build!  That's one we NEVER see around here. Thumbs Up [tup]
