Sorry, let me make a correction. It comes with a painting scheme with three versions, the first two with the same body color, just different decals. And the third one for a KV-1 from the winter front.

I took you're advice mikael, I've just bought myself a copy of Hobby Boss' 1/48 1942 Russian KV-1 'simplified turret' heavy tank. It only comes with one painting scheme with one body color, in addition to a winter weathering scheme. Looks like a very good kit, not as good a quality as Tamiya, a little bit of flash and not as smooth a mould as Tamiya, however Hobby Boss' instructions seem to be very simplified and aren't cluttered with all this advice and reminder bullsh** that surrounds the diagrams in Tamiya's instruction booklets.

14.8 cm long; 205 parts on 8 sprues; 22 photoetched parts and has two brasswire tow cables. When I figure out how to put pictures on the forum i'll take photos of the unbuilt kit and put 'em on. cheers.

IF possible you should try to do a model, when first staring off, that doesn't require camo. Why, because that way you'll focus more on the model, instead of how to paint it right. I never modeled the 1/48 Panther from Tamiya but I have built there KV-I, Tiger tank, and Wirbelwind. Pictures of my Wirbelwind on 5th page in armor section. But that was my first armor posted here on the forums and it wasn't that great. Mainly because I chose to hand paint it, plus I chose not to weather it, and it was my first attempt at camo.

G'day Mikael. Actually, i'm going to begin armor modeling soonish. I've got the 1/48 Tamiya Panther G (late release) kit and can't wait. i'm fascinated by tanks, beautiful machines, I don't know why I didn't begin armor before. I assume you are an avid armor modeler yourself , yes? Any tips on how I should go about building my first tank (e.g. is there anytyhing I should lookout for when building armor to avoid mucking everything up?) Or is it fairly self explicable? And no, I don't submit photos yet, don't wanna embarrass myself with how good I am not compared to most other people here on the forums. My primary reason for joining the forum was to get advice and get better building results, so I think I'll wait a bit. I don't even know how to post my pictures onto the forum let alone my computer, anyway. Catch up later, somenewguy.

G'day, i'm Matt and i'm from the adelaide hills in south oz (sh**ville, planet earth) i'm 16 and, like the great Matt Usher himself , are interested in building just about any category. but i;m not into any sci-fi modeling or building anything that's hideously ugly. i'm not very experienced in modeling, on and off you know.  i've built about 35-40 odd models, in which literally only three are now existent. I have'nt strayed away from the very bear basic building and painting techniques but I joined the forums to hope to stay put in modeling and gradually extend my tool and skill inventory and build better models. i've been on the forums for three days now and so far everyone seems to be very friendly and helpful.                         cheers, somenewguy!
