Glad to have you on board, GlueMonkey. "Back in my days" of youthful builds it was armor, military aircraft, and the occassional auto/truck. Now, I'm branching out to some ships. Perhaps, we will have a lot to help each other with.

Hello Everyone!

Hello All! I just signed onboard tonight, and am looking forward to meeting many of you around the forum, and learning a lot from you. I actually re-entered the modelling world last month. Over at the Armchair General (ACG) web site, I was intrigued by the modellers, and their forum, and how far the genre has evolved since my youth. The last model I built was an F4U Corsair back at the end of the 70's. I joined a Group Build at ACG, and am in the middle of a Tamiya Panther Type G.....my first model in 30 years! And I'm having a blast!

Back in the day, I primarily modelled military ships and aircraft, with the occasional auto/truck. I had always wanted to build armor, hence the Panther; and have discovered how much more meticulous I am now compared to my past. Back then, I slapped them together as a toy; Now, I regard it more like a work of art. I'm a Fine Artist, so I view working on a kit much differently than I did years ago.

I've been having a bit of a rough go lately, and working on a model has been a wonderful diversion. It amazed me how sitting down tfor a few minutes, to sand sprue joins down, turns into hours. I am also working with Liquid cement for the first time (though not exclusively yet), and Tamiya Acrylics (I used to use Testor's Enamels back when). I may even be brave enough to invest in an Airbrush at some point, especially as I see the benefits of what can be attained on armor alone...I am excited that the latest issue of FSM has articles on airbrushing. I just recieved my first issue in tonights mail (I bought last month's issue when I picked up the Panther).

Anyway, that's a little about me. I look forward to making many friends here at the forum!
