Might as well re-introduce myself
Posted by RWard on Monday, April 21, 2008 10:38 AM
It has been awhile since I have been here, so I thought I would re-introduce myself. I didn't post much when I was active, mostly because I didn't have much to say compared to the experts.

I am deployed in Kuwait right now, and hoping to figure out a way to build some models over here. I only have about fifty or so waiting at home, unless my daughters decide to snag them. I seem to have given both of them the modeling bug. I love both WWII aircraft, and more modern military jets, and Muscle Cars. My oldest daughter loves aircraft (she wants to be an aeronautical engineer), my younger daughter enjoys cars.

At any rate, after looking around a bit, I have to say it is nice to be back.

Right now I am not aware of any being sent to Kuwait. I am trying to arrange for my wife and daughters to send one or two, but I am trying to find out about paints. I posted a question about it, still waiting for an answer.

And thanks, by the way.

Hey RWard!!!!.....maybe I should say Re-Ward because that's what you folks are to us!

I have some experience mailing stuff to our troops. If there is something you need that seems impossible to get, let me know. I'm not in this alone but cannot make commitments for others. But I'd love to help out.

Try visiting anysoldier.com and posting a request....I've tried to search for modelers there....but modeling is low priority where you are, I understand.

Anyway, the offer stands.

Thanks for your Service!

namrednef, thanks for the response, may I assume you like Teles and Strats? I have always preferred the Les Paul myself, but I have played a couple of wonderful playing older Telecasters.

Right now I am working to get some models sent from my stash at home, and then either order or get paints sent. I have sent an e-mail to the point of contact up in Baghdad for information, so we will see.

Yes RWard....you got the backward spelling of the name, guitarists always do!  LP's..........like wearing a bowling ball strapped about your neck!Laugh [(-D] I have a gold top, an Epi and one I built with Warmoth parts et al. The Warmoth I ordered lightened considerably with holes beneath the veneer. They just get heavy when your standing up.

Yes, many Strats and Teles....(well, 6 between them now....just sold a couple)....4 of those I built, one of each is real. And a few other makes that caught my eye over the years.Wink [;)]

There is another guitar builder lurking around here.....I have him in my PM's if you ever want to chat with him. I've layed off guitar building (they are harder to store than models!)

Thank You and your Comrades for your  Service!Bow [bow]

Look forward to hearing from you again!

I'd like to add my support to that already voiced here, to you and to all the other troops, both American and Brits, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I know there is a lot of negative media coverage and some animosity from the general public, but not all feel that way. A lot, like us, are grateful for your sacrifice and dedication, doing a tough job in dangerous conditions, far from home and loved ones.

Perhaps because I was a ‘service brat' with my father serving in the RAF, I understand and appreciate what you guys (and gals) do. A big ‘thank you'.

Good luck getting what you need for your modelling, Return home safe. You make us very proud!
