Hey everyone! I'm Kevin, and I hail from the Mitten state. I'm a Marine vet and a pilot, fresh out of college as of December, and just getting my feet under me as a newbie flight instructor at Lansing Community College.

It's a total blast. Some days I still have trouble believing that I get paid to fly for a living! Other days, well... let's just say I turn over the controls to nineteen-year-old kids who are so nervous that they sometimes forget which way is up!

I've been a casual reader here for a few months and decided to join up. As you can see, I'm a confessed aerophile, but I can and have been tempted to the dark side... I'm currently working my (slow) way through my very first armor build, a Tamiya T-34, and I'm having a blast with it. As for aircraft, I'm mostly into fixed-wing: recon planes, air racers, USMC subjects of any era, and of course my area of personal expertise, civil aviation. Basically anything with wings displaying a graceful line or rumbly engine note will hook me solid.

Hoping to learn a lot from the collective experience of everyone here. Cheers!

(I was once involved in a meeting of aviators, unrelated to flying, and I kept hearing the words....."I want some hours.........or.....I need some more hours". I caught on)

Yeah Kev, this meeting was about (of all things) contaminated canned food getting to us in the Philippines.........a squadron Flight Surgeon whom hadn't been flying much stated...."Next time I get up I'm spinning her on her back and flying the length of the runway 6 feet off the deck!"

I don't know if he ever did it......he was about 35 years old and was feeling shunted aside.

This was NAS Cubi Point circa 1976

Well, that kind of stunt would get ya grounded forever, so he probably didn't. But knowing Navy pilots... he thought about it!
