Greetings all.
I'm a new member to the website. After seeing the fantastic mag that Fine Scale puts out... how could I NOT join? The pics, tips and techniques on this site are fantastic, and I look forward to spending a lot of time browsing here. Love it so far.
About me... I'm a mid 50's guy who recently got back into modelling after leaving it when I was in my early teens. Sure is a lot of difference now. Kits are better, techniques are GREAT, and tools/paints are a lot better too.
I'm married with 2 grown boys who are out on their own. I retired from the USAF in '91 and although I most love WWII era planes, I love anything that flies. I'm a former glider pilot with nearly 2000 hrs in the cockpit (health stopped that one ).
So far I've completed a P-47, done as Hun Hunter XIV, P-51 Shangri La, P-51 Petie 2nd, and a Do-335 A12. All Tamiya kits. Waiting in the wings are two more '51s I'm going to do in Tuskeegee colors and a B-17G that will be "escorted" by the Tuskeegee planes. Got some other kits on the shelf too...
I'm planning a pretty large display that will be one of each aircraft I "guarded" while in the USAF, but that is gonna take a LONG time to get finished. LOL. Gone for me are the days of throwing a kit together in an evening. :)
Time to get back to the building table now......
