2021 Nat Convention: Are the Seminars cancelled?
Posted by jhawk on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 9:32 AM

I was just on the Las Vegas Nats web page and did not see any listing for seminars even though there is a "seminar" tab.  Did the seminars get cancelled?  I also did not see anything about this in the "update" sections.  Thanks.

The website says the registration for events opens on Feb 1st along with the pre-registration. Pre-registration now begins Apr 1st. I would assume that would apply to the seminars as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't even see a listing of seminars. That's why I was wondering if they had all been cancelled.

I'm keeping an eye on it. I have a lot at stake on a build I'm taking down. I reserved a room last year but I see they are sold out now on that weekend.

Your question is likely better posed directly to the seminar coordinator on the Las Vegas organizing committee.

The seminar portion of the website likely has not been updated in at least the past 2 months, at least before the January 3, 2021 posting on the IPMS forums that pushed the pre-registration back from 1-February to 1-April.

At the time the page was last updated they were looking for people to give seminars.   Note the comments on the page that if you would like to present a seminar that you should contact the seminar cordinator.

Thanks again for the answers. I will keep an eye on the web page to see what develops. I fear the only seminars I could teach would be "How to put thumb prints on fresh paint" or "How to paint over cat hair without noticing it until the model is complete" or "How to run out of paint mid build". Those things I'm pretty good at.

Fortunately the location will take care of that bit of sad news.  My friends and I will be renting a car so we can tootle around.

So who is planning on going?  We should have a FSM Forum get together.  It would be nice to meet the great folks here in person.

I am still on the fence about going. I talked to a friend who just returned from Vegas and he said the place felt deserted and that, outside of the casino's, a lot of other bars\restaurants\attractions were still closed. Of course, that could change by convention time. I'm also worried that the convention will be canceled.

Good idea. I'ss start a post to see. Maybe we can get a group together for dinner or something.
