A proud day

I was working on my model last night when my son (age 9) comes out to watch.  He's come out a couple of times to watch.  He loves his Legos, so I gave him the model instructions to see what he thought.  He said that it really looked neat and he would like to give it a go.  I had him surf the Revell site so he could get a taste for what he might like to build.

On his own, he went to the SnapTite section, and picked out something that he might like.  So, we'll give it a whirl.  He didn't want to have to glue or paint right off the bat.  The building has always fascinated him, and I watch it when he gets a new Lego set.  I suspect that if he likes this, he'll transition to paint and glue on his own.

It was great to watch him surf the Revell site - he was there for probably an hour, jotting down what he wants to attempt.  Then he left to clean his desk in his room so he would have his own "bench."

Priceless.

On the bench:  Tamyia Mosquito Mk. VI for the '44 group build.  Yes, still.

Awesome!  My daughter has built a couple already and is about to start her third.  She is having a blast and I have fun working with her.

I have tried to get my 9 year old grandson interested in models, but no go.  We've tried easy snap tite planes, but that didn't interest him.  So then I got him a couple railroad building kits for the layout he and his dad are building.  I ended up finishing them myself.  He does enjoy legos and knows as much about computers as I do, but looks like he'll never be a modeler.  Oh, well, I tried....

Congratulation's! I'm scratch building you a cigar right now. I tried to get some local kids interested in modeling by giving them some recent issues of FSM but all they wantet was for me to build them "Wrestling action figures"! They didnt want to do it themselfs and lost interest after I told them I charge $25 an hour. Damn kids and their "Rockem Sockem robots" !

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Thanks, I will enjoy the cigar.  It's been many years, but I could use one now!

Pictures will be posted once the build starts.

I was just glad that it wasn't me asking him, it was his interest.

We'll see where this goes.  It should be fun none-the-less.
