Discovered a new way to sneak a model in under the radar... ;)
Posted by dirkpitt77 on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 5:13 PM

So, a few weeks ago I was messing around on Amazon looking at armor kits. I had put a few in my Shopping Cart so I could look at what the shipping would be.  Well, I removed all of them from my cart, but I forgot one. It was the Trumpeter 1/35 STRV-103C (Swedish S-tank). So here is the texting conversation I had with my wife yesterday.

ME: Hey, there's a tank model from my wish list in the Amazon shopping cart. Are u buying me a model? If you are, thank you so much for the surprise. Love u!

HER: Dunno what ur talking about. Are  u sure u didn't forget and do it in ur sleep? Might as well get it if it's in there anyway. Love u too.

So, needless to say, the kit is on it's way.

Feel free to use my helpful hint next time you have your eye on something. LOL

Sneaky, or maybe simply:  covert Cool--but obviously effective!  Congratulations on the "finesse!"

My wife usually leaves for work before our postal delivery.  I only order a few times a year from Megahobby to save on shipping so I tend to have infrequent but large orders. The one day in months that the postal guy is a little early is when he delivers that order (i.e. large box) from Megahobby. BUSTED!!!

If you get something in the post, remember to take the date-stamp Franking from the packet before you claim 'I've had that ages'....Wink

The next conversation will be (trust me), "I've been wanting that diamond solitare ring, since you have all those models now......." It won't be cheap.

I just tell my girlfriend it was something I pre-ordered 6 months ago and act surprised. That's only for the expensive ones i.e., more than $50.00 Most of the time she's fine with it and is glad it's on kits and not random females at bars!

I envisage the day where the working man can man-up and not have to sneak a model purchased with the shared finances.

Until then, I will continue to do side jobs for hobby money and buy what I want when I want. The irony here is, I am too cheap to buy anything anyway and rarely do.

lol, that system will guarantee that you always have $$ on hand to buy something you really want though.

The only way I could sneek a kit in the house would be to sneek another woman in at the same time.

My wife would be soooo mad about the other woman that I could toss the new kit on the stash and pretend that nothing happened.

But then the shooting starts!!!!!

Will the hospital let me work on kits........

If I make it to a hospital.........

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage".

Strange, but that's exactly the same logic I use when my wife heads out to buy a new pair of shoes. And I have to say there's a strong resemblance to how I look at the end there--big sharp wolfish teeth and all--although I manage to keep the bow in my hair. It was easier two months ago when my hair was past my shoulders, but hey, I do what I can.

That is the funniest thing I've read on this site to date. Yes

neither do i. i have about 500 kits in the stash. yesterday she came in as i was looking at a site for a fireboat. she looked over my shoulder and saw the price and said "you better get that since there is only 1 left." when the 1/200 BISMARCK came out i was showing her some pics on the website along with the cost. her comment "you going to get it?" i didn't because i wasn't interested but it's nice to have the support. so many in my wood ship club don't.
