I once went to my local hobby shop and bought two models for a total of $60.  That was the biggest shopping spree I have ever done.  I even felt guilty afterwards.

Thanks guys. Next time my wife complains about the relatively few kits I have on hand, I'll show her these posts. Should stifle her for a little while anyway.

Bill.

On the bench:  Lindberg 1/32 scale 1934 Ford Coupe and a few rescue projects.

In queue:  Tamiya 1/35 Quad Tractor or a scratch build project.

"Too many" is a phrase that does not apply to kit collectors or dreamers!

GAF

Okay, I really need to stop now.  I went to the Scale Fest 2013 show in Mesquite, Texas today and this is what I came home with:

The bad thing is, none of it is what I went there to find.  But they all had great prices, and I just... couldn't.... help myself.  Especially when the lady (who was getting ready to leave) said "Everything in this box is half off the sticker price."   That's when I wound up with a Hasegawa A6M5 and a P-38F for $20.  The rest... *sigh*.  Luckily, there are no model shows close-by soon, so I'll just have to stop browsing the internet...

Yeah.

Gary

Gary, o.k., you are now here by dubbed "The Model Hunter"! Bow Down

Awesome scores man!  2 jeeps!  Too cool. And the cut away Enterprise.....BRILLIANT!  You are the man!  Congrats!

I’m NOT a pack rat… I AM COLLECTOR !!! (with a little obsessive–compulsive disorder)

Iron Eagle (2 or 3) used F-4's as Migs at the start of the show.  It was many years ago, and I remember thinking "how strange"

Gary, you got me to thinking

I don't recall all that many movies that include Phantoms in them,,,,,,,,a little bit of the one attack in  "we were soldiers", a few scenes in the "great Santini",,,,,but, mostly just some token Nape shots in this or that movie

Tomcats, F-16s,,,,those have plenty of films about them,,,,,,,,with some Scooters thrown in to fight with

almost gone

Eagle90:  Yes, some of the vendors do take credit cards, especially the local hobby shop vendors.  It's bad... very bad.  Crying

And yes, I do have pictures of some of the builds, but I'll have to resize the pictures and upload them to photobucket.  That may take a while.   Maybe tomorrow night or Thursday, depending on how busy I am.

Tarnship:  So, Rex, do you like movies about F-4s?  Wink

Gary

PS> The bad news is that there is another model show just outside of Dallas on May 11th... And I still am looking for a couple of items...  (doom).

be very careful, lol

those good deals could lead to not being able to decide what kit to enter into a Group Build, someday

be at the beginning of having a problem

but seriously,,,,,,,,,good haul there

GAF, nice scores there!  Sounds like a real good show!  The little one here in Vermont was very cool and my first one, but at your show, THEY TOOK CREDIT CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Man, now I would have gone stupid if they had done that here! Embarrassed  Anyway, great score!  Did you get any pics of the builds?

Too Many?

I attended ModelMania 2013 in Houston this past weekend.  Had a great time.  I even had a short list of models I wanted to pick up.  Nothing too difficult and not too expensive.

Then the shopping bug hit...

Okay, I needed a Focke Wulf to build alongside the old Monogram one that's awaiting restoration, so... what version?  Oh, well.  These two will do.  I also need a 109 to build alongside the old Monogram version that's awaiting restoration... and that Shiden underneath it has a great price.  And I need a Tamiya P-47D.  They're priced $25 each, but you'll sell two for $40 bucks?  Sold!

What?  No Hasegawa Stuka G-2 models?  Well, there's this Hobby Craft 87G... I'll get it.  Could it be worse than the Monogram G-1?

There's an F-86F Sabre.  I was looking for one of those.  It's a Revell, but... eh...

There's what I was looking for!  $20 for the Eduard F6F-5 Hellcat?  Sold!  Too bad it's not an F6F-3, but... Wait!  You take credit cards?!  I'll take the F6F-3 Weekend version!  Oh, and the DC-3 Airliner too!

This DC-3 Airliner is 1/90 scale.  Box scale I guess... but here's a 1/72nd Italeri.  I'll grab that too.  Or do I get the 1/48 scale DC-3 Airliner from Monogram or the Pro Modeller PBY-5A.  Both are $30... I've always wanted to try the PBY...

How much for the 1/350 Enterprise?  Oh, okay.  You'll knock 15% off?  You take credit cards?  *sigh*.  Okay, you've got a deal.

Several trips later... Oh, I won a door prize.  I'll grab the USAAF Personnel.  I can use those.

Luckily, I escaped before any more damage was done.  It's a good thing I drive an SUV...

(I'm sure that this doesn't compare to SOME of your own buying sprees.)   Big Smile

Gary

PS> All I have to do now is figure out where to store all these!
