More e-Bay madness......
Posted by Wirraway on Friday, May 10, 2013 7:41 PM

I have one of these in the stash too..... If only it were actually worth that much.    The saying does go that something is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, but I think this guy is seriously deluded here......

Sometimes, I'd love to PM these people and just write, "Really, REALLY, are you serious!?"

Thats a fine example of what happens when you sniff too much glue !

He's out of his mind.

And since when does it cost 60 bucks to ship ?

That's just crazy. Another thing I can't figure out when stuff is priced crazy aren't the people paying fee's to list the item?  I know store sellers get a break but its still costing them money to list.

HI :

Either way , he's gotta be out of his gourd ! I can find that one at my local flea market a couple of times a year. It may NOT be pristine but a couple of bucks is better than what he's asking .Sixty bucks for shipping ? Where's it coming from , outer MONGOLIA ? One time I shipped a VERY large package with substantial weight . It was only twenty bucks .The package was four foot by two foot by eighteen inches in measurement

On Friday I won an e-bay auction for the Zoukei Mura P-51D which is an amazing bang up to date kit and it was in total $50 less than this!!

I did once PM a seller on E-bay and ask if he had thge decimal point in the wrong place, his reply was pretty much what you'd expect "I think its worth that", I watched it and him, it never sold and he relisted it 4 times

His honey said he had to thin his stash. He agreed to put stuff up on E-bay. No buyers? Oh, well, he "tried."

Actually, he's liquidating his soon to be ex-wifes assets....

Who knows, but something tells me it'll go unsold.

Nice job on the p-51 though!

Here's what I wrote to him:

"Dear Sir'; I"m writing to you on behalf of a group of modelers on a forum who would like to know how you calculate your shipping to be nearly $60 on this regular item? There is a forum thread here---http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/general discussion/f/50/t/154240.aspx--in which there is much disbelief about your shipping price which seems to be grossly inflated. Could you provide some details as to how exactly you are calculating these charges? Honestly, we're all curious. It seems to many of the members of this forum that you are trying to make extra money from your shipping charges. Can you provide an answer to how this charge has been calculated?"

He wrote back:

"How you can say that,I am overcharging people, when you don't even know how much its cost to ship, and how is done. when last time you ship anything to anybody?,Before you star accusing people think about it. How you be feeling somebody tell you, you're ripping people off, and that wasn't true because that person doesn't even have any idea what the talking about . That's what your doing sending the crazy emails, accusing people." Dead

It's a shame that this guy doesn't recognize when someone is trying to give them a heads-up about how predatory their shipping charges appear, and how shameful it is to not be able to justify that. Honestly, it makes me want to report him to eBay. Super Angry They DO ask you if the shipper charged fair shipping charges in their feedback inquiry.

Guess we will see in a day or so to see if he can sell it.

My P-51 arrived today from Hong Kong, took 8 days and cost $26(£17) which I have no issue with and I can't see how a 1/48 scale can cost that

I just finished a conversation with the seller through "messages" on eBay.

He reduced shipping to a reasonable $8.85. Nice to see that he listened to a voice of reason. Smile

Nice work Doog, the voice of reason again wins out, pity the price is silly but you can't win them all!

Well, it looks like the auction ended, the item wasn't sold, and the price never got changed despite his comment. Maybe lesson learned for him.

BTW his response to "doog" was incredibly rude....

Look at the rest of his items for sale. They all have extremely high shipping. Also note he is from Lombard, Illinois. He's trying to make a killing by selling overseas on Ebay's Australian site and charging exorbitant shipping.

Heh - A buddy of mine sent me a link regarding a rare coin up for bid on ebay. Seller list it for.... wait for it...

$2.5 MILLION dollars.

I sent the seller a question if the clear case the coin is secured in is free. Never got my answer. LOL!

Thanks for stepping up to the plate and taking this guy on Doog.  I owe you one Buddy.  Actually shipping has got really expensive from the USA to Oz in recent years (I think UPS no longer offers sea mail ?)  So its air mail or nothing.  I used to buy a lot of stuff  from the USA when the exchange rate was good, but I think thats over too...:-(

Well, yesterday I shipped out a set of 4 Yakima Q towers (the assemblies the hold bike racks to cars) in a If-it-fits-it-ships medium flat rate box that would easily hold a 1/48 kit. They weigh probably 15 pounds packed. The cost? $12.35 from Massachusetts to Maryland (or anywhere else stateside.)  The tracking number indicates it's already in MD.

On the plus side, the guy is upfront about overcharging shipping.
