Saw "Lincoln" last night...

Yeah I know, a littl behind the times, but working evenings I do not get out to see movies in the theater much anymore. What a great movie!!! An excllent job of bringing a signifiant piece of the past alive 150 years later. If you have not seen it yet, check it out. Minimal action, but just superb storytelling and acting.

I need to see it too.

I saw "20 feet from Stardom". A really great movie if you like music.

I am looking forward to seeing it, too. Even my wife wants to see it!

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Go rent it, buy it, borrow it.... you two (and wives) will  not be sorry.... I think I got the biggest kick from all the backroom politics shown.... the supporting cast is as superb as the headliners. What is 20 Feet From Stardom?

It's a movie about the "colored girls" who go  "dum-da-dum-da-da-da-da-dum-de-dum" (Lou Reed "take a walk on the wild side")

and every where else that backup vocals save the day...

Lisa Fischer who has sang "Gimme Shelter" for the last 23 years. Wonderful stuff and they all sing "20 feet away" from the big names.

The Raelettes, the Blossoms, the Ikettes, you name it. The women on the stage who can really sing.

I saw it too, and loved it. I couldn't believe that the lead role was Daniel Day Lewis--I can't help but think of him exclusively as the hunky "Hawkeye" in my favorite movie, "Last of the Mohicans". I almost developed a man-crush on him in that.....almost.......don't tell anybody.....lol.

What a great movie though. Sad thing is, most kids won't see it. Not enough explosions or car chases...

Last of the Mohicans is a favorite of mine as well. I have not seen a movie of his yet where I have not been enthralled by his performance- Last of the Mohicans, Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood, even The Bounty. The man is a master at his craft.

I haven't seen it yet, but it is on my to watch list, I usually wait until they are on TV, the pictures to to damn expensive.

From the clips I have seen, Lewis looks a dead ringer for Lincoln, and I believe he did a hell of a lot of researche for the part. And I can just imagine that how Lincoln would sound as well.

Nice to see some good reviews.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

One of my favorite Daniel Day Lewis movies is "The Crucible".  I felt he gave a very powerful and emotional performance in that one.

My brother-in-law was telling me how he and my 17 year old nephew were watching "Lincoln".  About half an hour into the movie, my nephew asked "When does all the killing start?"  He thought he was watching "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

nice...  yes, it would be a rare youngser who would sit and watch this film. Aside from the visual, it is very much for one to "think" as much as "see" this movie. I have not seen The Crucible. Is that based off of the book/play?
