Pilots and astronauts autographs are not the only ones I have. I have several from Playboy centerfolds.
Miss December 1968 Cynthia Myers autographed my copy of Playboy magazine and also gave me a signed photograph and a signed copy of the Volume 1 Number 5 Playboy Playmates Pocket magazine.. She is on the cover of both magazines. I also have signed and authenticated cards from Pam Anderson, Hugh Hefner, Nancy Sinatra, Shannon Tweed and Mamie Van Doren. In my NASCAR collection I have items autographed by Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

There are tons of faked autograph photos floating around, especially on EBay. I stupidly got stuck with several of them. The only way you really know if it is genuine, is if you can buy one directly from the actor, at a film festival. And take a picture of the person signing it, for proof if you later want to sell it.
I was taken for$175 for a group photo of the Star Trek original actors- later found out it was an obvious fake.
They are authenticated. I took photographs as the various people signed the autographs. Thanks for the suggestions.

I would think that you'd have to get them authenticated first? I mean, couldn't anyone just sign something and *say* that it's an autograph from so and so?
Take pictures with you holding the cards.
And, keep take pictures of them as proof.

Problem is, if they are lost or stolen, you will have a very hard time proving it to insurance company, which will do everything in their power to avoid paying you off. I have had this experience with a major insurance company and I don't trust any of them. Keep them locked up in a safe or bank safety deposit box or something, and save the insurance premiums.
I just read you post out loud to my wife who deals in antiques and she looked at me with shocked expression. YES, INSURE THEM! You've got some real treasures there!
Advice? Find a real appraiser of ephemera and autographs.
Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
I had the opportunity to meet several important World War II pilots and crew members during my career as a newspaper reporter. I was looking at some of the autographs recently and wondered if I should have them insured. They include Adolph Galland, Francis "Gabby" Gabreski, Pappy Boyington, Chuck Yeager, Charles "Chuck Sweeney" pilot of Bock's Car, Richard Nelson, radio operator of the Enola Gay, Flying Tiger R.T. Smith, several astronauts and many Tuskeegee Airmen. I also have a business card autograph by Admiral Yamamoto. It was signed when he was in the US prior to World War II. I do keep all of these items in a fireproof safe. Your advice will be appreciated.
