Tanker    you didnt mention what camo you were doing but with all that brown it sounds like your doing a diorama of a downed "bird" .

Do like they did in the Pacific theatre and salvage the usable parts

Save the "wishbone"......  It may come in handy by Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving !

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Pyrman64, I remember that song. The last time I heard it was a long, long time ago. Whoops, didn't mean to give away your age. Wink

Next time try some butter-like washes. NOT filters. Filters won't offer quite the rendition.

The Bird
Posted by tankerbuilder on Friday, November 15, 2013 11:23 AM

 Hi :

You know that we modelers are trying new things all the time .Well , I am working on this here bird and boy is it hard .The landing Gear doesn't want to tuck up right and the wings keep flopping loose . The engine cavity is so large I lost a pair of tweezers in there .Now , I solved those problems .The next thing is weathering .I want it to be a nice golden brown with crisp brown edges . I have used my favorite mixes to no avail .It still came out all a dungy , dry brown .

I wonder if I can get this right for the 28th and that's when the rest of the diorama will be done .Steaming hot sweet potatoes , hot gravy and the mashed potatoes of course .Oh , the Gravy is giblet gravy too .Now the hardest part will be can I fit this all on one table ?

With that I want to wish ALL my modeling friends here a very happy Thanksgiving and for those of you who are or have somebody in uniform , you can bet I'll say that thanksgiving prayer a little more serious .Thank You everybody - Be -safe  and Happy Thanksgiving        Tanker - Builder
