What are you REALLY thankful for ?
Posted by tankerbuilder on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 8:15 AM

Well ;

It's that time of year again .Now where do you stand ? Do you remember to be thankful for ALL things . Or do you just remember the usual ones ? Me , I am thankful for the men that died , and were dying ,  when The Foundering ship I was born on was towed  into N.Y.Harbor .Now if it wasn't for those brave selfless men and women I might NOT be here now . So I thank Who I should for servicemen and women First , then my family both my own and my extended one .Then for This great confused place we call AMERICA ,then for the food and the warm house and the ability to wake up in the morning free . I then Thank Who I should , for all my friends on Fine Scale Modeler and the MAG as well as the guys over at the other MAG too . Boy ,  My list grows every year .Have a Happy and Safe one  , Please ?     Tanker-Builder        Oh , I forgot , I am thankful for all the models I am building and the ones in the stash . I am thankful for the ability to enjoy this hobby as well .

Aside from the standard answers....family, friends...blah, blah, blah...

I'm thankful...that this year of nothing but bad luck and hard times is almost over.

Had to find new work...end up working 3X more, for 2/3rds the pay...my joints are all KILLING me...can't even play my guitar (too much pain), no time for models. Deer season is 2/3rds over, only had time to go out 3 times(in 2 months). Burried two more uncles, only have one left. Also had to bury my best friend (at 4a.m., because that's when I had time)....

Well, I like some of those standard answers. Wink

I love my wife, and am thankful every day that she's a part of my life. I can't even fathom life without her. My parents - in their 80's and still going strong. Life is quite good.

For my family and loved ones... For our home... For fairly good health, in spite of my occasional foolish reckless actions... For having been able to do the jobs you dream of as a little boy and still getting paid to do one of them... My life is blessed and full of good people and things.... And for the friends here that share our good hobby with...

Our Saviour.

My parents.

My wife.

My daughter.

My employees.

My dogs.

Except for the first, not necessarily in order.

Well so far I'm thankful for the year. The wife and son, the relatives that I do have here and for just life. Things could have turned out alot worse for us.

P.S. How could I forget? I'm thankful for the only guys that I can talk with and enjoy this hobby with....you all!

I am Thankful for the Love of Jesus Christ and all the blessings He has given me. I am thankful for my wife, my family, my two cats and my hobby. And since God asks us to give thanks in ALL things, I am thankful for my diabetes, as it helps me eat healthier. I am thankful for my joblessness as I learn patience, and an appreciation for things that most people take for granted.

For all this, I am thankful.

May you all have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.

I am indeed deeply thankful for having the most incredible and remarkable wife one could ever imagine.  I am blessed with my family as well as my wives. I am grateful for the love and support they unselfishly provide us. I am also thankful to be able to live in a small town in the middle of the most incredible beauty imaginable. And, lastly, I am thankful to have the power of Gratitude in my life each and every day. It never ceases to provide me with peace and serenity from the darkness of self pity, selfishness and self pride.

Make that x3, Joe. Took too many decades (for me) to learn this one.

Today, I am grateful to be alive and healthy, for a warm house, no shortage of food, and having family to spend the day with. And it took being alone for a few years to learn to appreciate the latter.

Happy and safe Thanksgiving to all.

Amongst the more private and spiritual things in my life, I am thankful for those brave English souls that embarked on those tiny ships and braved the uknown to establish this nation of ours. Thanks!

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Thanksgiving to me every year is a time to single out and thank a Navy Corpsman from long ago (1979).  It is good for me to pick him out from the many serviceman that we celebrate on all the other appropriate days in the year.

This year is a bit different,,,,,I am happy to be able to sit here and be thankful that Anne's surgery this year got all of her Cancer out of her,,,,,,and that she hasn't changed as much as the doctors warned us was possible. Life is very much easier and happier with the SSgt around to say "Aye, Aye Honey" to now and then, even if it does still crack her up in public.

I am thankful that my own doctors seem to have been wrong on their timeline, and that my own tumors aren't growing back in as fast as they thought originally, meaning I might have more time remaining than they said. (I think the large stash causes this, lol)

And I am thankful that my "twinkie sized" hernia has stopped growing,,,,,,,without the place the hernia split open, I would have been dead back in 1979,,,,,so, the hernia is the least of my worries, I think

Lastly, I am thankful for a group of modelers on this and on other forums that allow me to bend their ears now and then when I need a place to vent about the three things up above.

Hug your loved ones

I'm thankful for lots of things, Family, Grandkids, and all the things I am lucky enough to be blessed with.  Right now I am very thankful for ALKA-SELTZER!

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

To make mistakes is human.  To blame it on someone else shows management potential.

me too. i write 5 things i am gratiful for every night before turning off the light. might be big like that looking an extra time and not being creamed by a semi, good health for both of us, better financial situation than most. sometimes little things like finding the part i dropped. doesn't matter. if the only prayer you say is THANK YOU nthat is enough.

Reading all these posts made me realize how blessed I am to have the life I do. I’m blessed with a wife that has stuck by me for forty five years. For a job that was not only a blessing but that I loved, a retirement that seems secure for now. For the pitfalls in life that taught me many lessons. For two son in-laws that have returned from Iraq well both physically and mentally. To me one of my greatest blessings is being an American and all the opportunities and freedoms this great nation has given me. I’m especially thankful for al the men and women that have and do serve in the various branches of the military. Oh and I can still pass my FAA physical.

Life is not about getting out of the storm, but learning to dance in the rain.

Don't tip to through life only to end up at deaths door.
