Sears selling kits online

Sure. They just set up a revenue sharing deal. If someone purchases through them, they get some prearranged percentage. Anyone can make money like this on the Internet if you can cut a revenue sharing deal, and they aren't that hard to get. Lots of web sites sell books like this. They are basically serving as middlemen, taking their cut for connecting a customer with a supplier. The problem is that you need a lot of traffic to make enough money to pay for your own overhead and hassle.

Really? I never knew that.

You'll find the same thing with many online retailers. Newegg (computers and parts) also lists tools, household goods, and various other items for sale. If you look at the listings they'll say "sold by [insert company name here]" on all but the computer and some electronics stuff.

I never figured Sears actually has physical possession of the merchandise.

Checked out sears website and found they have 3 Hobby Boss kits (all 1/700th scale):

Noticed underneath each kit the Marketplace is listed as Sold by Hobby Warehouse 2? I'm guessing it's a distributor for Sears?

There are plenty of good online retailers if you don't have easy access to a LHS. I have my favorites bookmarked, have for ages.

Would be nice...........they had some nice styles.

And Sears sells all the tools needed to assemble the house kits.

Kit houses using modern technology might even be partlally factory assembled like those the Japanese build............and a self contained, off the grid house would really be nice.

OTOH.............I can also imagine the regulations and taxes that didn't exist pre-1940 being imposed these days..............

If we're lucky, they'll start selling house kits again.

I've seen that.........some prices are good ( saw a decent price for a 1/96 Revell Constitution) , some average.

Still........one advantage is that it is not limited to Revell kits.

Who would've thought? Gotta check that out...
