I bought a big piece of anthracite coal once. True story.

May I ask why? What did you do with it?

I wanted a 10lb box of West Virginia bituminous coal being sold on E-bay but my wife wouldn't go for it. I tried to explain that it would enhance the reality of my WV based model railroad but no joy.

Brian you right some people are 100% nuts!

Agreed Gamera!  As far as really believing in haunted stuff.....idk.  Kinda on the fence.  But this stuff like the haunted clowns and what-not...  NO WAY I'd put that in my house.  Bad Juju.

Apparently you can also buy a friend for a weekend on ebay!

Also some guy sold his NFL team affiliation.  He said if you win you will be able to tell him which team to root for and support.  He also promised to purchase products from this team and go to 1 game per year.

A couple years ago, I came across an auction where some guy offered a winning bid to get the chance to get his head beat in. Crazy stuff.

I saw a 1/35 MG34 go for over $400USD. P.T. Barnum was right....there's a sucker born every minute.

Long ago, I had a friend who had a garage sale, and he said that if he had packaged up dog poop in baggies, people would have bought it.  I believe that.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Over the years I have learned that people will buy anything on eBay and pay the most insane prices too.  For example, years ago I had a Cabela's outfitter tent with wood stove I sold.  Now it was a first generation tent, one that Cabela's slightly redesigned a few years later.  I only used the tent maybe 4 times before realizing it was way too big to use in a practical sense at the campgrounds I would stay at.  So I decided to sell it on eBay.  Well, when all was said and done the person who won the auction paid only about $50 less than a brand new (and upgraded version) would have cost him.  Now, of course I wasn't complaining as the recipient of the good luck.  But it baffled my mind.

But lest I think only buyers a crazy, so too sellers.  I recently went browsing for cast iron pans.  I was looking for something a bit beat up to use as a project pan.  I figured I could find a cheap pan, strip the old seasoning off, and give it a little TLC.  So off I went searching eBay.....and I was finding beat up pans being auctioned for a minimum bid of what a brand spanking new one off Amazon.com would cost me.  And that was BEFORE shipping, in which Amazon, if you spend enough, gives for free.  But the sellers on eBay charge shipping.  Thus it would cost me MORE for a beat up used pan than a brand new one!!!!!!

Sometimes I think people get caught up in the whole auction mania and that is why we see crazy products and prices on eBay.  But sometimes I just think people are plain crazy! Big Smile

Once in a blue moon I'll scan eBay's weird stuff. It's crazy what  people will put up for auction to make a quick dollar.

So I am on ebay and for the funnies I decide to look under the category of "Weird Things".  I dont really reccomend doing this.  But anyhow there are people on eBay claiming to have Haunted items and they are selling for a good amount of money!!?!?   Haunted dolls, clowns and there is even a seller who claims to trap spirits in Ziplock Baggies and sells them....

Is there anything that people WONT buy?!?!?!?
