Lookie what I got for Fathers day!
Posted by modelcrazy on Monday, June 15, 2015 11:02 AM

Our LHS is loosing some of its space to a Subway sandwhich shop, so the HS put some plastics on sale. I told my wife I was just curious to see what they had. well we walked in, saw the tables, and my wife, God love her, started picking up kits she knew or thought I may like. Don't you need this for such and such project? and so on. Well needless to say, I walked out with a few things for me, and some stuff for the grandsons. All were 50% off.

For the Star Trek Build

The wife's favorite fighter.

My favorite fighter.

For the Karl Morser 60 cm mortar. It needs some AA protection doesn't it?

And something to try a idea I have for a diorama.

Hopefully the daughters will throw a little my way for a 1/350 Fletcher class destroyer and PE set.

Steve

What did you/are you going to get for fathers day?

Thanks guys. You notice I got my wife's favorite fighter along with the rest of the stash?

Black Sheep,

Yeah. the box has/had a sticker on it that said it was a repop from 30 years ago. Brand new, nice decals, nice mold. It was the first thing I opened.

Nice haul, good for you, MC!

I was surprised to see the AMT kit. Can somebody explain what round2 models is all about? I went to the website and still don't get it. (I do find myself wanting to buy the Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile, though. Geeked)

Not sure what the round2 is Greg. But a few years ago AMT re-released some of their Star Trek kits in these new retro box's, I have the Enterprise in a similar box. They also did the Enterprise, and possibly others, in a metal tin at the same time. But I was under the impression this was the original moulding but with new decals.

The decals are defiantly new. The mold is the same I'm sure.

MC

Great grouping of goodies you got. It's always fun l to grab things on sale to build up the stash.

I have no idea what the kids or the wife are getting me for Father's Day but I picked up an Iwata Neo from Hobby Lobby with the 40% coupon that came out to $47. I have several Badger brushes but wanted to try the Iwata out specially at that price.

Thanks PJ,

I exercised a great amount of restraint at the tables. There was/is sooo much more to pick up.

MC, if you want detail shots of the 47- They have one at the Erickson collection, and will be stopping there at the end of October and can get some for you.  Won't be able to get any in office though.

Sound great GH,

The 47's are a rare treat for me. I saw a flying one here in Idaho last year, but couldn't get close.

This is all I got

I got the 1/350 TOS Enterprise for Father's Day. Unfortunately, it will be in the stash for a while, until I have a workspace big enough for it. Well, at least that gives me time to get some aftermarket goodies for it!

Nice Razorback.  EC's is a "D" so will cross into your kit well. Have a few pics of her from when I was there in March.  Was the first one they restored back when.  Was done in Idaho, and the ME (spanish Buchon) is there now, looks to be back in time for the airshow in late August.

MC

If you like the P-47 then grab one at Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon. They have the 1/48 Revell (re-pop of the old Monogram) and is a very well detailed kit.

PJ,

I got one from HL a while back. It's a razorback D, which is fine, so now I can build either. There were several civil kits there as well. A Bonanza, Cessna 150, Pits, some golden age stuff. I may have to go back later and check them out  Confused

I got my grandson a cool Triceratops that I'll give him for his B-day in Sept, which quite frankly is WAY over his head. My wife said that won't be a problem cause I'll be helping. I probably be building it for him Stick out tongue
