More on that later. I'm kind of in shock right now, he was 86 and had Alzheimer's for some years, cruddy disease.

I will talk to you later, kind of a mixture of feelings now.

I am sorry for the loss. Lost my dad too a few years ago. It is real tough. He had a stroke during a medical test and hung in there for a few months parilyzed before he passed. Tough to look on your hero like that. I don't know what you believe, but I believe that he and your dad are healed, whole and at peace. I hope that that though may bring some small comfort.

God bless

GM, So sorry to hear of your loss.  May God welcome him to heaven, and may He grant your family and friends comfort and peace in this difficult time.  I lost my mom a couple of years ago and its not easy.  Hang in there, and know there are people who are there to support you.  Take care.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Here's hoping that, in time, the memories of your father's Alzheimer's-afflicted years will recede, and you'll be left with the many happy memories of earlier times.

GM - I extend my condolences for your loss, it's a tough time to go through. In time the great memories will replace the sadness.

I lost my Dad in 1945, when I was 4, he passed away from cancer at age 33. Now at age 75 I recall vividly the extreme sense of loss, even at that young age. So I'm happy for you to have had that greater length of time, to know and love your Dad.

Know that the days ahead will get better.

Thank you John, Patrick, Carlos, KT, MM66, Phil, Bruce, Tojo, MC, 214, Gamera, Andy, Goldhammer, 1099, PJ, 523, Greg, Maildude, John, Eric, Brad, TJ, Jimand the rest of you fine people.

My phone and email have been lit up. My mother is staying with my sister for a couple of days before she returns to the Retirement Home.

Now to sit down and pen an obit. That'll take a little bit of emotional energy.

I was detail painting my U Boat when I got the call. It'll remind me of dad.

GM, I add my condolences to the many here, eight or eighty eight it is ALWAYS a shock, obviously made more complicated by your father's disease. I know from experience ( my real father) at the age of nineteen time will heal the pain then your left with the wonderful memories of the time you shared. Stay centered and hang in there.
