I Hate Youtube
Posted by lazyfortress on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 6:45 PM

Some ignoramus started cussing on my peaceful comment.  He called me all of these bad things.  That really bashed my feelings.  I don't know why he did that.  That really put me in a bad mood...  Why would anyone post such horrid things?  That really was a big slap to the face.  I don't even...  What did I ever do to him?  He called me things so horrid that no words can describe how I feel!  Why?!

Your post is so vague and random that I must express my confusion and question as to what you are trying to accomplish with it...???

LF: All I can say is the YouTube comment section is pretty close to the critical mass of stupidity. I wonder that it hasn't collapsed into a black hole of infinite stupid by now.

Then again thank God for it since it keeps people like that behind a keyboard and off the streets where they could hurt themselvies and other people. I swear if I ever decide to kill myself and want to lose all interest in life I'm going to sit down and just read the comments till I'm ready to slit my wrists.

LF, just don't read the garbage, or else grow a really thick skin. Trust me, it's not you it's them...

I read some guy commenting on a late '60s Godzilla movie- 'why do the Japanese always use 50 year old US stuff in these movies???' (well, my spelling is a little better). Um, so the US had F-86 Sabres and M48 tanks back in 1917? Guess that ended the First World War pretty fast. Honest to gosh how stupid do you have to be not to know this movie was made in the 1960s and this stuff was friggin' state of the art back then????? Sad

I believe LF is a youngster and is unaware at how nasty keyboard commandos can be. For that reason I do not comment on anything on social media cause you have the AHs that will ridicule and insult you for no reason.

With that said, either don't comment and if you do then be prepared for the commandos and just brush it off and ignore them.

I find YouTube very useful in the "how to" postings. Thanks to YouTube I learned how to fix my refigerator that had an issue at the freezer. Thanks to the poster who showed how to fix the problem saved me at least $150 for service visit and did not need any parts replacement, just a slight modification to the drain grommet.

I also was able to pull and remove the flywheel from my riding mower, replaced the busted up starter gear wheel thanks to a video showing the process and tools needed. That was a $200 + parts repair price tag at a mower shop. I did it myself for under $50.

Just be aware that when posting on those sites, you will allways have idiots bad mouthing and insulting others.

Anytime you put something out there for public consumption, you're opening the potential floodgates to the worst of humanity.  I learned that when I worked my first retail job in high school.  It doesn't matter if you put up a video on YouTube of a baby bunny sniffing around a flower, you WILL get the dregs of society who'll simply do what they do.  Don't take it personally.  They don't need a valid reason to be so vile.  It's what they are and what they do.  The ONLY way to avoid that is to not make yourself so public.

Fortunately you won't find that here on the FSM forum since, as we all know, we model builders are pretty much perfect.  Angel

Here's the harsh reality in handling this: Grow a set and get over it. Don't feed the trolls.

Do not confuse social media with actual communication.

its full of half formed personalities. Which explains why politicians find it such a useful audience.

Just kidding, but try striking up a real conversation with  real person, like the woman at the next table at Starbucks or the kid next to you on the bus.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

GMorrison

Do not confuse social media with actual communication.

This is likely the best thing I've read anywhere, on any subject, period, in a while.

I love it.

I don't know why he did that.  Why would anyone post such horrid things?  Why?!

Because he/she can be anonymus and there are no social consequences for people's actions on the internet. A perfect combination to bring out the worst in some.

You didn't do anything, these sorry caracters would attack anybody, they don't need a reason. Ignore them and move on....

Cheers :-)

Because it's the internet. There are trolls out there who just love to stir s--- up, they get off on it. This is the main reason why I haven’t posted a how to vid on my water and fire process or a kit review. I don't want to see any negative non-constructive comments. Here at FSM and other reputable forums, I know if someone sees an error, they will bring in up in a useful constructive manner which helps me improve and won't intentionally try to knock me down.

You can toggle comments off in the YouTube settings, I believe.

But to the OP, yeah, welcome to the internet: an endless task of sorting the wheat from the chaff. And there is much chaff. LOL
