Ahhhh,

Reminds me of some of those 1950's sci fi movies with giant bugs, like "The Deadly Mantis" or "Them". Surprise

Yeah!  I didn't think that to scale, this would be a 3 foot bug.

Ugh...  I'm such a bug-a-phobe.  I would would run out of the room and close the door if something like that landed on my bench.  I'd just find another hobby for a few days and then check to see if it was gone.

I saw a youtube video of guy flying a Mig-17 at an airshow.  The video was from inside the cockpit.  Pilot's just flying around and then a big flying bug of some kind appeared on the inside of the canopy.  He just ignored it.  Hell, I would've bailed out!   hahahaha....

On the bench:  Revel 1/48 B-25J Mitchell

In the queue: Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair

Never seen an airplane with double tricycle landing gear before.

Take off may be slow... but I bet the landings stink.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I know him! He's the new IPMS judge that will take over from the penlight/dental mirror guy. Better watch those ejector pin marks a little more closely!

I'm not a bug-a-phobe, but I do fear IPMS judges and rivet counters.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth. We have that same problem here. If it's not the stinkbugs, it's the boxelder bugs. They take turns being a pest from one year to the next. We've found that water mixed with dish soap and put in a small spray bottle will take care of the boxelder bugs. Grab the stinkbug with a tissue or paper towel and put it in a little dish full of the dish soap water. Or, you can hold a glass full of the soapy water under the stinkbug and just brush it off into the glass. They don't fly away. They'll die in a few minutes with no odor. The old fashioned fly swatter works quicker but, as you know, that's why they call them STINKbugs.

Hope this helps someone.

That guy got the Mt. Dew treatment.  I dropped him from the Wildcat elevator into an old can of Diet Mountain Dew.  Then I just threw it into the trashcan under my bench.  Stinkbugs are all around here, but they've never really been a problem.  My wife saw a cockroach the other day, so we will likely be calling an exterminator anyway.  Stinkbugs aren't my favorite, but they aren't roaches.

What you could do is take the dead stinkbug, put it on the plane, and then build a horror-movie-style diorama.Big Smile

After our last cat died, we did not replace him, and ever since, in fall, we are bothered by mice.  Traps work fairly well to control the situation, but I remember one mouse in particular, that I was reluctant to kill.  He would come out on the floor, very quietly, in the middle of the day when I was working at the basement modeling bench. It was like he was interested in watching me build models!  If I looked at him, he would scurry away, but I could be aware of him out of the corner of my eye.  I finally rigged a deadfall box to bring a cardboard box down over him, and it worked, trapping him but not hurting him.  I then took him back to an outlot area and released him.  I assume he was smart enough to get the message, as I never saw him again.

We have those box elder bugs!  I found one dead on my husbands dresser in our room just yesterday.  I hate bugs, so I made it get it and investigate online what it was.  They look gross, but apparently they don't bite or sting.  Still not a fan of them, lol.  I will certainly be trying the spray bottle trick with them.  I can't stand bugs being in my house.

Keyda - from the link Johnny posted I'd say those bugs look pretty smart/elegant - look at that flat black/red finish - like a sports car!

Good luck keeping your houses bug free and have a nice day

My wife wants a cat.  I'm resisting, because I don't want anything to do with a litter box.

No stink bugs inside. I am blessed (cursed ?) with an asian gecko which lives inside my 1/48 B-29. TB- does the world now have one less stink bug ?

Scott, my workshop is in the basement as well right underneath the staircase.  It's a comfy little place to work but, every now and then, I'll suddenly become aware that there's a spider hanging down from the ceiling.  The little ones I can handle.  It's those bigger ones with meat on their bones that freak me out.  And they're fast, too!!!

Here in Wisconsin, we're being blessed with June bugs right now.  Man are they dumb.  And slow, too.  I had a Hershey's Kiss the other evening when I spotted a bug crawling along the patio screen door.  I just got the Kiss wrapper and wrapped the June bug up in it.

 Ah ;

Probably not . He handled it with good sense . After all there is a reason they are accused of " Making a Stink .Hooo Boy , definitely not in close quarters .   While on this . I went to our local park today .A gorgeously serene place even with picnickers around .

My question is this .When you hit a Swan ( Adult male ) with your car .Shouldn't you try to help the bird and not leave it to die in the road ? This is what I saw . I stopped , Blocked the road , emergency flashers going and took the poor creature to the grass berm next to the road . Sorry to say he expired in my arms . Darned it !

As I examined the bird to report it to the Park Ranger , I noticed it was a bird I had been feeding and playing with since he was a young " Ugly Duckling " . He had a unique burst of red color on the side of his beak up toward the centerline .

That is how I knew . You see , sometimes I go out there with my travel kit and build a model in the fresh air and sunshine . It is different and saves my sanity Especially when the Squirrels and Ducks and Geese come and visit . .  T.B.      P.S. I always stop at the " Feed Store " and get the right food for them . No bread and cookies or candy here .

I just hope the crew gecko doesn't try to sell you car insurance.

Stink bugs seem to get into any space.  Although I don't find them particulary creepy and usually  just throw them back outdoors.   I had a yellow jacket wasp land on my London Bus the other day on my work table.  That time of year again up here in Boston.

If you have a cat you will have no mice, and it will also control the chipmunk population which can be quite destructive. I'm all for cats for utilitaran reasons.
