Bad Windows updates causing computers to need reboots?

I am running Windows 10 and it told me that it needed to do updates when I shut down. I said OK. 2 hours later, it had still only loaded 7% of the updates. Ignoring computers advice to not turn off computer, I did. Got a reboot page and thought "why has it not loaded windows" ? I turned off power again and waited an hour. On restart I got a message about Windows having to repair corrupted disk. All seem to be good again now.

D'oh! Well I need to format it anyways. [:/]

I'm also still running Win 7. Since the highly suspect "free" Win 10 upgrades were being pushed on me I've had a lot anomolous glitches after every Win 7 update. Media player broke down so I can't play videos on my laptop. No update to fix or repair that.

Other microshaft progs have stopped working correctly or just cause massive slow downs until I shut them down.

Heck I've had cooling issues with the system fan causing errors since this whole thing started. Its running, but doesn't operate like it used to and the comp says its not working at all which causes overheating issues if I'm not on top of it.

Video cards don't work right either. 

No updates I've tried have fixed any of it. All after updates from microshaft since Win 10.

 

Makes me think of a common saying around here; it's only a conspiracy, til it's true. So maybe I'm not going crazy after all.

 

 

Because they REALLY wanted us all to have it for free. Since when does microshaft give anything away? Considering the new ways we're being purposely spied on, I just though it was fishy.

So I'm one of those guys who covers the camera and disables microphones. Not that I have anything I'm afraid for the government to know about me, it's just the principle of the matter. I don't wish to be watched or heard unless I mean to be.

 

 

 

 

I didn't think they need windows 10 to do that. Windows 7 would work, your cell phone would work, even this forum could be used by them. The only safe place is off the grid then right?

 

 

Actually, Mike, he's right--from what you have said here, you are in far greater danger from using such an old, outdated OS and computer with all the problems you have in it It could be just infested with malware that's causing all of those bugs and failures. Here's something that should scare you: the "WannaCry" massive ransomware cyber attack that recently swept the world hit primarily computers with Windows 7. Seriously, you should upgrade because you're putting ALL of your vital information at serious risk of being stolen, hijacked, hacked, etc.

It may not be a virus but a problem with the software or update. 

I have Windows 10 and it has shown a couple of hiccups here and there but nothing major.

About a month ago I was using the Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool program as I have been doing for a long time. The program scans and if it detects a threat, it will then list the problem at the end of the scan giving you the option to delete or quarantine the suspected file. As I ran the program it alerted me of 2 infected files but at the end of the scan it listed no infected files! 

I called Microsoft support and spent over an hour with a so called tech who finally gave up and ended the session cause he couldn't find a problem.

I took my pc to a computer repair shop I deal with and they ran scans for 2 days revealing no infected files at all. The tech said it's a conflict with the particular Microsoft program and not to use it any more cause it was  giving a false reading. My Eset anti virus did not detect anything either. 

Seems like some Microsoft programs are flipping out giving out all sorts of erroneous data.

When I first updated to Windows 10 I experienced bugs after every up date,I would delete any updates not directly linked to the OS.Eventually the updates lessened in problems and now the only ill effect is having to log back in to the accounts I stay signed to,occasionally.

Why not upgrade to winows 10 then?

I can't be forced into Windows 10 because my graphics card is so old that Windows can't go beyond 7 or 8. Some of the updates that failed to install on my system may be Windows 10 for all I know.

I hated Windows 10 and still do. I was happy with Win 8 until Microsoft forced the update on me.

If i remember right, i had to turn the laptop off and back again. If it happens again, i'll pay more attention to what it says.

It has ben a while since i have had an update, i'm running Windows 7.

Very interesting. Did you have to reboot it, or did it load properly?

 

I have had somthing odd happen twice where i got that blue screen, but was a month or so apart and last one was several weeks ago. Not sure if its the same thing but had me worried each time.
