Hmmm;

You folks are all funny . here's one for you .  Generator is in the back of the car . Always has been . Now as for the toaster . I bet Don remembers this one . It is an old Dominion .You open the sides and put your bread in and then wait till you smell it . Open back up and switch sides .That way both sides of the bread get toasted .

My Grandma bought it in 1940 at the hardware store ! It has been rewired and had new coils put in it , But it still works . No Flying toast for me ! The Hinges of the sides had to be rebuilt in about 1984 . Easy enough , Hard aluminum rivets ( long ) . I think that is called an appliance from " Back in the day ")

Remember , household appliances had fabric covered insulated cords and no plastic parts unless it was that hard plastic they used for knobs  Now , My new toaster ? It will launch toasted cat treats at least three feet somewhere ! Don't hover near it  ,you might get hit in the eye !      T.B.

Tim, welcome to Club Duuu! May I make one suggestion about the power. Be sure to have enough of it so that you can run a toaster too. One never knows when one will want a Poptart or something.

Thanks for sharing! lol...

Thought I would share my "well DUUU" moment I just had.

So my wife bought me this new compressor and airbrush for my birthday. I was out in my modeling shed setting it all up and had the electric cord in my hand when a "Wave " of realization came over me....... I havent wired the shed for power yet !

And even if I had, the generator is under EVERYTHING in the shed!

It's somewhere below and behind that white bucket at the upper right in this picture!

Was going to suggest using a couple of rods to heat them up, but LT beat me to it.....Upside of that would be less people in the kitchen, and your toast or pop-tarts would be easy to find in the dark....Big Smile

That's when I show up the next day with a butane torch to start browning my toastWink

Lol... That works. I am plum out of butane. So... today, I am bringing a muffin. No toasting involved.

No microwave at the office, huh?

Actually, we have six microwaves. They don't toast toast very well though. No

Oh. I thought you were attempting to warm up some Pop-Tarts, at which a microwave does a pretty good job.

That is a good point. I have heard that some people warm them that way. I like them toasted some but it might be worth a try. Thanks for the tip!

Cadet Chuck

Many years ago, on a cold winter day, I lost patience with our balky toaster, and flunt it high into the air out the back door, where it crashed down on the cement patio and self-destructed.  I felt really good about that, but my wife will never let me forget it!

LOL. That is too funny. Your toaster must have been very bad to get that kind of special treatment.

I am begining to think that we should start a Toaster Support Group.

Many year's ago..... when I was a young man..... I learned some skill's that came in handy on this paticular day.      ( I broke into the passenger door! ) Took me 2 minute's ! Back in high school I could have done it in 30 seconds....... I'm getting old.........

Wow... You ARE getting old. You better brush up on your BE and skills.

LOL. Too funny sir.  That IS A HOOT!! I think your story trumps mine by a long shot.

Seriously... nice job dealing with the problem. I'd love to hear how you broke in but... I better not ask.

I could have used your quick thinking when my bagels ejected out of the toaster and ricocheted off of the cabinets. Maybe next time.

Good story. Thanks for sharing!

Don't tell anyone but I process spent nuclear fuel rods.

Could'nt you use those to toast the toast?

Who know's you could end up with a "super power"...........

( Able to glue part's at an ASTOUNDING rate!)

Just so you dont feel you're alone....... I managed to lock myself out of my concrete truck at work a few day's ago.........PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Say LT, maybe so! And very funny about the super power... Smile

Let me tell you something else. Spent fuel rods can be repurposed to make great bug zappers. Their green glow attracts mosquitos like nothing else.

Zap!

Zap! Zap!

Zap!

Bad news bears about locking the keys in the truck!

PS: Let me put your minds at ease. I don't actually work on spent nuclear fuel rods. Phew.

At my advanced age I have learned this very well, the setting controls on any toaster are connected to absolutely NOTHING.

Crumpets warmed in the microwave for me.

I travel a lot on business. Know the quirks  of every toaster La Quinta owns in CA.

La Quinta: Spanish for "Behind Denny's". At least, out here on the southeast coast anyways. Look for Denny's, and, right behind it, a La Quinta Inn.

Bakster, you have me beat hands down.  There's no topping that one.  The closest I can come to that is from the toaster my wife and I had several years ago.  One day I was getting ready for work and decided to have piece of toast before I left the house.  This was my wife's toaster from even before we got married which meant I didn't know all of its quirks.

I put the bread in and pushed the handle down.  As I was waiting for the toast to pop, I did a quick clean-up of the kitchen.  While doing that, I heard the unmistakable "ker-chunk" sound of the toast popping up.  I turned towards the toaster....and there was no toast!  For a split second I thought I had gone nuts and I started to think that maybe I never did put any bread in.  After looking around for a while, I finally found the toast behind the fridge.  I completely forgot that my wife's toaster had quite the powerful kick when the toast was done.  It catapulted my breakfast out and onto the floor behind the fridge.  Eventually, my wife and I got tired of searching for our breakfast so we got a new toaster.

Eric

I would LOVE to have that toaster!! You still got it?

Not bad, Stevie. Geeked

I'll try to remember to stay away from technology when we meet up one day.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, Greg. Are you insinuating that I'm technology challenged? I beg to differ. I can't help it that the toaster is a hunk of junk. Lol.

Speaking of stupid-ville the riding lawnmower at work had been slowly leaking oil. Well, the other week I jumped on the mower and started mowing until the mower just stopped. Looked her over and oh well- there wasn't a drop of oil in her.

I was terrified I'd locked the thing up but thankfully the maintanance guy found there was a switch that turned it off before I locked her up...... Dunce

Memories Here For The Commodore Amiga 2000 Folks

Awesome! I remember the Video Toaster from it being used in the CGI on the first season on the TV series Babylon 5. Back when CGI was pretty new and cool and not used in everything!

Always wanted an Amiga but was in college so I ended up using a C-64 right up to the early '90s when I finally could afford my first PC gaming rig.
