Just for laughs
Posted by Real G on Monday, December 16, 2019 5:22 PM

Tis the season to be jolly, so I thought I'd start a thread where people can post pics to make the day a little lighter.

I'll start with this one:

It's not Christmas related, but I thought it was pretty funny/cool.  The car parks by my office quite frequently and so I decided to take a pic because it was so darned cute.  I wonder if it was a dedicated car decor accessory, or if the car's owner got creative?  Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh!  Stick out tongue

There was another thing I used to see in a storefront window every morning on the way to work, but it was neither cute nor funny - the owner must have had a bad year.  (It was a Japanese "maneki neko", you know, the cat with the "gimme-gimme" paw.  But he wasn't doing the "gimme"!)

Good idea for a thread. I can come up with a few.

That's awesome G. And the welcome cat with the... um... 'you're number one gesture'... that's fun though not sure it's my thing... Wink

Anyway I went by the local toy store for adults... I mean hobby shop and took a few photos.

I swear when I retire and get some more time I'm going to pull my railroad stuff out and get back into it. Guess I'm in the last generation that loved trains. For some reason they always make me think of Christmas...

A coworker refers to those kinds of places as “Adult Disneyland”.  LOL

ROTFL... Ok I guess that is a laugh...

Not sure if we have 'an adult toy store' like that and if we did I know the mods wouldn't be happy with any photos I'd post... Indifferent

Oops sorry, a clarification is in order - “Adult Disneyland” = strip club.  There’s entertainment, lights, animatronics, and meet-n-greet at the tables.  Surprise

My favorite hobbyshop. I discovered this in the 70s. Used to stop in when in LA. Don't get there much anymore. PaulE

I have over the years collected a few 1/6 scale figures, and what started out as an innocent desire to learn more about military equipment evolved into a bunch of movie based characters.  And that kind of thing only breeds mischief in people like me:

The figure is Hot Toys' Batman from "The Dark Knight".  The flower is a thistle, taken not from the high mountains near a foreboding ninja hideout, but rather a mundane floral bouqet headed for the family altar.  Of which provided a suitably inscruitable mystical oriental-ish background for the photo!  And before anyone asks, no one in my family is an Iga ninja, nor do we keep a family sword, crest, or any sort of that kind of thing.

Not COVID related so I put this here:

If you watched the Japanese TV show or movie “Macross”, you’ll get it.  Or “Robotech”.Ick!

I think this one supersedes my favorite “Real Gundam” video, where some college kids re-enacted a key scene from “Gundam” atop an apartment building roof.
