"Is that a man?"

RIP General Charles Yeager, who passed away today.

I never happened to be in the right place at the right time to meet him, but he's been a significant part of the American story and our lore for the last 8 decades.

People come into history and people go, some more significant in their impact than others.

Yeager is a keeper.

I know what I'm watching tomorrow. "Ridley, ya got any Beeman's?".

With a genuine tear,

God speed sir.

I saw him fairly close up once during the Edwards AFB Open House in 1997. He was walking through the crowd after having done a commemorative Mach Busting in a F-15 for the show. But he wasn’t exactly stopping to talk and chat at that moment. The Air Force truly treated him like living legend that he was at that time, their rock star. I’ve seen more stars on generals and admirals with less fuss around them by their service.

Saw him flying the XB-51 at an airshow in Detroit.  Flew it like a fighter, of course, made Martin proud, I think.

They don't make 'em any finer.
The last of an era of true honor and integrity.

I got this a few years ago at the Reno Air Races. It's a Witcoff.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.
