I grew up in the '60s a stone's-throw away from Glenview NAS, and went to school with bunches of kids whose fathers served there. That's the sort of project I can envision many of those fathers undertaking!
My real question is...what ever became of it? At 1/3, it would certainly have required its own 'parking place.'

As the 'middle' one of three brothers, I've got just two words in answer to that:
FACE PLANT.
That is impressive! I wonder if that little guy grew up to be an aviator?
Here I was thinking I was cool building orange crate scooters back in the early 70s :)
