RIP Meat Loaf
Posted by Real G on Friday, January 21, 2022 12:31 PM

Meatlof, aka Marvin Lee Aday, the iconic 70's rocker most famous for his "Bat Out Of Hell" album, passed away last night at the age of 74.  I was not hugely into hard rock back then, but I liked his music.  I found it interesting to see references to him and his work show up even today - two that come immediately to mind are the singing meatloaf in the frozen food section in "Sausage Party" and when Gru blasts out of his underground lair on his motorcycle to rescue Lucy in "Despicable Me 2".

His music was memorable, his influence was undeniable.  But in the end he has passed on.  Two out of three ain't bad.

Sorry, I had to work that in.

It's sad when someone like him passes.  Though I have to say, I'm surprised he made it to 74.

I try to sing "Paradise by the dashboard lights" to my wife...never sounfs as good as when Meat sang it. Still get the obligstory eye rolls though. Just watched him in" Black Dog " the other night. He also appeared on Ghost Hunters once or twice back when. I liked his style of music.

He will be sadly missed by all. Rest in peace my friend. You were ahead of your time and a great performer.

The album "Bat out of Hell" was the anthem of my late teenage years, it still brings a warmth to my heart and a smile to my face whenever I hear it.  Let the altars shine.

Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

Wasn't a fan of all his music but loved "Paradise by the dashboard lights". RIP Meat Loaf.

This is how I found the news.  Weber grills sent my this apology for a meatloaf recipe.

Talk about "Timing is everything...." Tongue Tied

Went to radio engineering school in Florida in the summer of '78, and coming back home every day for the lunch break, like clockwork, I'd flip on the radio, and invariably "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" would be playing. Great album, great writer (also R.I.P. Jim Steinman, last year) and the marvelous voice and performance of 'Meat.'

The world is a duller place indeed for his loss.

It is a duller place with all of the big names passing recently, and now I see Louie Anderson has left us as well.  Great stand up comedian from the '80's, as well as an actor.

That reminds me of the episode of "Saturday Night Live", with Christopher Lee as the guest host, and Meat Loaf as the musical guest.  Lee introduced the first musical appearance with the joke, "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to meet....Loaf!  What?  Oh, sorry, that's...Meat Loaf!"

I never was a fan but I understand he was a really great guy. I did liked him in Rocky Horror though.

Loved him as the promoter in Wayne's World.

Wayne: So, who's playing tonight?

Meat Loaf: Jolly Green Giants, and The S****y Beatles.

Wayne: The S****y Beatles?  Are they any good?

Meat Loaf:  They...suck.

Wayne:  Oh...so its not just a clever name.

RIP Meat Loaf
