This is one resulution I may not be able to do.  A number of family issues and a few big, long term projects going on that is keeping me from building at the volume I once was able to do.

I'm with you BK, I'll participate as much as I can. Granted working 2 jobs after a divorce takes a lot of time away from the hobby. Thinking about it, I haven't finished a kit in about 4 years. Time to get back to the bench and have some fun...

I haven't built much this year, though I have painted more figures.

I don't do modeling resolutions anymore, because I don't keep to them. I think I made one this year, a Shelf of Doom resolution to finish some stalled builds. Or maybe I made it for 2021.  Either way, I haven't finished any of them.

As far as build blogs go, I stopped doing build blogs, because it got to be to much of a pain to stop and take pictures to post as I went along.

I don't jump on group builds anymore, either, because I just can't follow the pace.

I don't know that activity here is down, though, without having any kind of metrics to see first.

But in the end, it's a hobby.  I haven't built as much, mostly because I just haven't felt like it. And if I force myself to build, it becomes work, and I'll want even less to do it.

We should build what we like, as much or as little as we like, and have fun.

Been working at a slower pace this year on my builds but got my builds for other people and my restorations for the museum done. Don't plan to do any more for the museum. Time for someone else to take over that job. Hope to get more work done for myself this year. Have one group build that is close to completion and might be done before the end of the year.

If the Man upstairs lets me keep the abilities that I still have left, I'll get to finish more of my stash before my time here is over. If not, I'll just have to convince Him to let me take the rest with me and finish them up there (I hope).Wink

BK-thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I've been in a slump since moving 9 years ago-lucky to finish two or three builds a year-so thankful for the Weekend Maddness-usually on time I can get one completed.

I have always enjoyed the Group Builds-especially when focused on a historical event(s)-I enjoy the research and the knowledge shared.  I'm not one to post outside of the GB's.

I really want to pick up my pace-I'm going to make an effort to complete my current comments (hopefully on time) and then get more involved.

I will join in as well.

GreySnake, I feel your pain; I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my hip that makes it uncomfortable to stand at times.  It's literally a pain in the butt as well as down the leg and on top of my foot.  It's completely random, but it hates it when I hang laundry!

But I can sit with no problems, so on with some builds!  I did glue some plastic yesterday afternoon, and I chose a relatively simple kit, so photos will follow.

I am planning to get back to posting more often soon. My problem right now is dealing with Sciatica so sitting down at the desk isn't very fun. Should be back to normal in a week or two.

Same here BK.  I was all but absent last year but I'm going to do more public WIPs and be more active within the forums.

As soon as my hobby room is setup at the new house I'm going to build  build build.  I always like participating in the forum and will continue!

Thanks,

John

I'm with ya on more time at the bench. No more WIP threads or GBs for me here, just completed projects will get posted. But I do intend to also comment more on the WIP threads that I see on here that attract my interest. Let those  modelers know that there work is noticed.

Okay, so I don't do New Year resolutions, but...
Posted by BrandonK on Monday, December 26, 2022 11:23 AM

A couple of things stand out to me now that the year is nearly complete and they both got me thinking and motivated. First, forum activity is waning and my build count is no where near where I want it. So, those can only be solved through personal action.

I can't make the forums more active all on my own, but this year I will not resolve to be more active, but I WILL be more active...period. I don't want peeps to feel like the effort they put into a build is going unnoticed, so I will try to comment on many many more threads. It sucks to put up a thread and have it fall flat. I can't make a huge difference, but I can make a difference nontheless.

Second, I WILL produce more kits this year...period. Unless major life events prevent it. Sometimes these things can't be helped. 2022 saw me play too many games and too little bench time. Not this year, I have new modeling toys and I WILL crank out the kits. I intend to make this the best modeling year ever.

Now the question here is...who is with me? Anyone else feel they can up the effort this new year? Let me know. Or let this thread fall flat, whatever. I'm gonna do it!!
