After an Involved build...

Between each "involved" build, I like to do something simpler like a single engine fighter by Tamiya. Recently I'm dabbling in figures, which is a nice change of pace. My builds take so long anyways, that even a "weekend kit" can stretch me into a month.

After I finish an "involved build" I normaly work on a figure or 2 to display with the build then I start the next build.

Here's my post-build wind-down after my last project.  A simple display base with the driver's nick-name/logo for the bike.

I eat two Slim Jims, a Twinkie, then do a combat roll into the stash and come up with a new kit to start.

OK, maybe not...... actually, I rarely am not in the middle of a build. I usually keep two going, and as soon as I get close to finishing one of those, I get the next one started.

I just finished a bike with some decal work.  It usually depends.  This particular unit's going to get a base done for it to be displayed upon.  Other than that, I spend an evening cleaning up the mess, putting paint, glue, etc. away and making my bench a fresh starting point for the next one.  I may take a couple weeks off or, jump right in to a box-stock or curbside build.

I model pretty much full-time, 30-40 hours a week... Usually have 4 or 5 in the pipe & "decompress" by switching kits... Or researching a build... Or hangin' out here... 

Model building is my prime way of decompressing from work. It certainly allows me to escape from the real world for a short time period. If I am in rough terrain with a particulary difficult build, I will set it aside and find another kit in the stash that I know will not present the same difficulty/challenges. But I will go back to that kit and nibble away at it from time to time. I will not be defeated! And once I do complete it, and the simple ones that come between to save my modeling sanity, I will start another major one. After a short breather of course.

Modeling is a way of decompressing from work and family stresses for me so most portions of any build I look forward to. The only thing that bothers me any more is my vision is starting to deteriate with age. PE work on 1/700 ships now has to be done with magnification, where three years ago I didn't need it.

I clean the desk, go into the kitchen, find some chocolate, have a drink of tap water, and go hunting in the stash for what's next....

Go and play a round of Golf, and go home all pissed off (at Golf), ready to take up plastic modeling!!

I just take time off from modeling.  I have quite a few hobbies, so I just take time away from the bench.  For instance, I just finished an FW190A-6 in the middle of last week.  I have a group build that starts October 1st.  I'm not building anything between now and then so that when the GB starts, I'll be fresh and amped up to start building again.

For me...I'll do anything except build a model, lol. That usually gets me to want to get back into it after a little while.
