The Doog did it again!
Posted by Jim Barton on Thursday, May 7, 2009 10:21 PM

I just bought Essential Techniques for the Model Builder and The Doog has an article therein called "Modeling Snow." Just wanted to say what a nice job he did on that diorama!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] He conveys the bitter cold and the misery the German soldiers on the horse-drawn wagon are going through. I feel cold just looking at them (and it's not because I'm running the air conditioner; it's 100 degrees outside here in Phoenix!). I'm just curious as to the diorama's title.

Anyway, thank you, Doog, for sharing your work!

I have never met Karl,(in person) but he strikes me as a typical master modeler in that he will share his techniques and offer advice when asked. . .FREE.
Typical of most on this site.

Hey, Jim (and deadhead!) thanks for the appreciation. I had a post up on this build when I originally built it, and you know, I never DID title it?! I think I called it "Snow Tutorial; Tamiya's Field Kitchen"? Or something like that?

I had been thinking of something like 'A More Reliable Form of Transportation"? --being that the motorcycle is dead on the steppes there...I actually have never titled it though....it's still in my display case without a name!

Thanks for the compliments! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it, and hope the tutorial helps you one day! Big Smile [:D]

Hey Bushi! Thanks for posting that link! That IS the "finished" post, but the actual tutorial was removed. I wish they could put it up again after the article runs. I could probably do it myself, but it would "scoop" the magazine, and I don't think Kalmbach would appreciate that? Whistling [:-^].....Smile [:)]
